Do you know of any free firewalls that I can download on my home comp, besides the obvious norton. I had a electrical storm blow right thru my surge protector and shut my firewall down and it let several viruses in...now my home comp is on the fritz...takes me about 20 mins just to get on the inet...it's a battle, i used to have a microsoft one that would quarentine and remove, but can't find it anymore....
i need one that I can search them out, quarentine them and remove them...but the optimal word is free....
just checkin
i'm not sure a firewall is exactly what you want for viruses but try this:
go to http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_installer.html?hl=en&gl=us and get the Spyware doctor. it does quite a bit.
comcast gives mcafee for free so i use that for firewall and anti-virus.
AVG is a free anti-virus program.
i won't flame you but i will say it's not true. a. you're comparing a computer (mac) with an operating system (windows). and Macs can get viruses. You can run operating systems on PCs that will be as secure (or more) than Apples OSX (operating system)
But when i weigh pros vs. cons, i'll take the windows operating system running on a pc hands down. for me, the benefits far outweigh the cons.
i hope that doesn't come across as a flame. Patti Smith tonight talked about googling arms sales to Saudi Arabia and she said to use Safari so i guess she has a mac too.
