I have a date
Woo Hoo!
Cathy just called me during her break and I asked her out to go see a movie tomorrow and she said yes. Hey we married folks have dates to you know. Dunno what to go see though, Ratatouille, Transformers, Live Free Die Hard, Fantastic Four, etc. etc.
I think I will let her choose and just sit back, relax and enjoy the date.
Whatchadoing for the 4th?
Ron
If you see Ratatouille let me know. I've read good things about it and will have Jay put on his eye patch if you and Sas give it a thumb up. Well I might even if you don't but it'd be nice to get another opinion.
For us.. not exactly sure. I was thinking we might be able to put a dent in the backyard cleanup or the garage but we overextended ourselves a bit on Saturday so if we do anything it won't be anything major. Our computer room needs major straightening out with filing and so forth and we have some art work we purchased from our trip to NY that needs to be hung so maybe we'll focus on that.
I did buy some Delmonico steaks for the grill and a new kind of corn from Florida that looked pretty interesting. The kernels are purple and white!! Supposedly a new strain of corn that is sweeter than the normal.
The rest we'll just let happen....being spontaneous is fun too
Mel,
Please don't talk to Cathy. Your referenced 4th plans represents the Honey Do list from hell.
Jay,
You have got to get that woman of your's out on the town. Put a dent in the backyard, cleanup the garage, computer room straightening out and hanging up the artwork....Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee
The Delmonico steaks does sound good. What time do you want us over? Make sure it is after all the aforementioned Mel planned fun time Independence Day events.
Ron
Wait a minute. You were telling me to take my wife to a spooky movie that you haven't seen yourself. Are you trying to get me killed?
I have heard that the last 5 to 10 minutes of 1408 is really harrowing. Now you get that feedback and note the King moniker and eventually I have to see the flick. However I have always felt for myself anyway, tha****ching this kind of movie in the privacy of my own home with the lights turned off magnifies the fear factor versus watching it in a theatre with a crowd.
This is how I firs****ched "The Exorcist" and I couldn't get through it in one take. I believe the Exorcist came out in 1973 when I was 13 and definitely not allowed to see it in the theatres. My folks, as well as many, thought the movie was demonic. Remember this show, probably more so than any other caused a real public stir. In fact, one would have to go back to Orson Well's "War of the Worlds" that was first broadcast over radio that shook up the public for any real comparison to "The Exorcist" reaction and even then the comparisons are weak.
Now the show is fairly benign but for it's time it was shocking.
Sorry for the ramble. Just enjoying the self thought process going on in my brain.
EVERY good part of the movie was in the previews. The rest is just filler and cheez. I'd rather watch the previews five times in a row than see the movie again.
The ONLY thing that saves the movie is John Cusack. With any other actor i'd probably be rolling on the floor laughing but his performance actually made me able to relate to the characters pain, frustration and fright.
I will say this, I now find the Carpenters TERRIFYING and if i ever hear that song again i'll probably break down in fright.
