WLS Additional Option...have you heard of this????
StomaphyX
This revolutionary procedure is now available for individuals who have
had previous gastric bypass surgery and who are regaining weight and
those who want an alternative to invasive weight loss surgery.
Benefits of the StomaphyX procedure include:
* No need for abdominal or internal surgical incisions.
* Enables the surgeon to reduce the size of the stomach.
* Preserves future treatment options.
* In most cases, is performed on an outpatient basis.
* Essentially painless.
* Faster recovery than with open or laparaoscopic procedures.
* Adjustable and/or revisable.
The StomaphyX device is an endoluminal fastener and delivery system
that consists of an ergonomic, flexible fastener delivery device and
steril polypropylene fastener implants. All devices are packaged
sterile, and are for single patient use.
"The StomaphyX allows me, as a surgeon, to offer patients the most
comprehensive weight loss options in the country. This is the most
afordable weight loss surgery available, the least invasive, and has
the lowest risk of complications. There is essentially limited
recovery time for the patient, which allows the patient to return to
their daily activities and work environment, typically on the same
day." Dr. Todd Overcash

here is one more seems interesting.....not sure it is in US totally yet....
my big day is august 25th...wooooo hoooooo can you believe it? wow
So, is this like a "filler" for the pouch that might have stretched or is it more like a lap band? I wonder how it is minimally invasive with no scars. Do they do it like an upper GI? I might be interested. I personally think my pouch's sutures have loosened or I have a bigger pouch than what I should have. There are times I can eat a full sandwich, loaded, then not take 2 bites of anything. \
Thought I was preggers a few weeks ago, but it was partially the pouch and then had a 24 hour bug.
However, last week I did freak out one of the women I have running my centers. I had eaten some cold chicken without a condiment, like salsa for lunch. It got stuck. I could not get it to go up or down. Was doing foamies. Called her to come to my office and scared her to death watching me. I told her to take the change and get me a SF Rootbeer so I could bubble up and burp or something. Until someone sees us do the foamies or get something stuck, they never know. But yet I still have people say "That's the easy way out". Ok, watch this... And while you're at it, see why I'm always vitamin deficient, anemic, malnourished (even though I've gained 60 pounds), etc. Be with me when I can't stop the gas or explosive "whatever" then tell me it was easy. Those who originally thought that, but saw me in the hospital and the 3 yrs after have a completely different opinion.
But, then, I didn't mean to lay all that out on your thread.
i am not actually quite sure...maybe a combo.....seems like it could be like something that they do through a tube to go down you and tighten it up...maybe i will do it too....some days i feel like i can eat so much and then other days it is horrible and i cannot eat much at all.....ugh...............
wow on the thing at work....i have never got foamies...but am glad you are okay....what did the lady say? does she know you had surgery? people just do not get that it is an easy way out....HELLO..............
and hello sister, lay whatever the heck you want on the threads...this is OUR board and we can say and talk about whatever....so goooooooooooooo
She had that fear look in her eyes. Between heaves, I told her it would be ok and she didn't have to stay with me because it happened quite often. I just didn't tell her it was earlier in my surgery when it typically happened.
I told the whole world I was getting the surgery when it happened. Now, of all the people, the heavy ones are the ones who make remarks about the weight I've gained. They can't really say anything to me since I'm their "big boss", but you can see them do a full body scan of you and they'll say something like "are you still losing?" knowing full well I've gained. Oh well... F 'em.
Liz that happens to me a lot when i eat chicken. i've found hot tea to be the cure. kinda gross though, what happens is all that warm liquid on top of the stuck chicken makes me keep throwing up. Eventually i'll get everything up except what's stuck and then drink another bit of tea, and it will cause me to hock up the piece that was stuck. it's kinda awful as it comes out almost as if someone did a Heimlich on me. But it sure lets me know i've come unstuck. It works EVERYTIME. which is a relief because i've heard so many horror stories about people having to go to the hospital in similar cir****tances.
for me it wasn't the easy way. it was the only way. And if someone thinks it's the easy way out let them carry 200lbs extra weight around for 30 years, struggle with it always, losing up to 100lbs over and over again and always gaining it back. That's not easy. I say we're tougher and harder working than people who can control their weight. Will power is a myth. It's not about will power.
You know, I've actually tried the hot tea and all I get is hot tea back up. If I do get into that situation, the only thing that makes it move is carbonation. I don't know why, except it makes me burp or hiccup. And I eat chicken and turkey, daily. I just usually have salsa on top of it to make it slide down.
You're right on the easy way out; it wasn't. The will power is part of it, but it's also addiction and treatment. This was our rehab, in my opinion. And just like rehab, it works differently for different people. For the first 18 months, I was the poster child for WLS. Then downhill, physically since then. My doctor is working so hard to figure out how to treat my issues, but he's going to have to refer me to someone who knows more about side effects of this surgery. I take two syringes of B-12 each week, 12-14 vitamins a day, and less than 1,200 cals a day, yet I've gained 60 plus pounds in a year. I don't release any of the B-12, so my body uses it all and I'm still in the lows on the normal range when bloodwork is done.
I know I've had less energy and it is far more difficult to do exercise now than when I was losing; even at the same weight. Others don't understand that the first time when I was an exercising fool, I was lighter than I was used to. Now, I am heavier than I am used to and it takes a toll on the body. I'm really strict with my food intake now and try to go to the gym when time allows. I lost 4 pounds in 3 weeks. Whooptidoo! I wanted to see 10 pounds gone. Oh well. It will come back off, I just have to work on it harder after 3 yrs.
