High School Reunion....
So, my 20 year class reunion is coming up in a few weeks...I must say I am TOTALLY jacked to go for a few reasons...
- Gives me a reason to go home and finish wedding plans and to see my family
- I get to see some old friends
- I get to get out and have some fun in my little MT town.... Really, we do have fun there....
- I have not seen many of these people since before I had my surgery (weighing in about 400 pounds)....I cannot wait to see their reaction
- I can wear some fun clothes and feel comfortable....
So, for anyone out there that have been to their reunion since you have had surgery, any advice on all of the questions people my ask....I typically am not shy about telling people about my surgery but know some people are and some people are catty and will talk about it....I likely will be very open....I want to show them that my health was an important part of my life and I needed to do something about it.....
I did the 20 yr reunion in 05. I was at my smallest in a size 8/10 jeans. The first person who knew me ran up to me and squealed how thin I was. Then it turned into the "rumor" that I was anorexic because we had bbq sandwiches and potato chips (yeah, small town, too) and I was still afraid of bread and carbs. Finally someone had the guts to tell me I HAD to eat something because I was skin and bones. It wasn't normal. So, I picked at the food. Actually, it was kind of wonderful to have someone say I skin and bones. They just didn't know how much lycra was holding that "skin" tight and up against those "bones".
Go, enjoy, and if asked, tell the truth: a lot of hard work got the weight off me. Can any of us say that is not a truthful statement? That way you're not admitting anything you don't want, but you're not lying either.
Is Mr. Nate going with you? That's wonderful revenge on the mean girls; 38, getting married, and to a hot good looking military man. All the time, they're getting to be grammies at our age. I love it.

How nice to be called skin and bones....wow....
I brought my hs senior picture in to work last week as 4 of us in my direct area are having our 20 year reunion this summer.....they said i did not look the same...lol...but i was big then and then ballooned a lot after that and people did see me at my 10 year reunion, etc. so i hope they notice a difference.....
I like your comment about tell them it took me a lot of work to get it off...that is true....when people at work tell me that i have lost a lot of weight (i don't tell everyone that 30 pounds were cut off in plastic surgery...lol) i just say thanks, i am working on it
Mr Nate is not going but they all know i am engaged (well it is on the roster list)...the funny thing is that next week when i am visiting mr nate i may not have my ring since we are getting our wedding rings next week and i want to upgrade my engagement ring to a thicker band and they may need to have my ring oh well...but yes, people in my class are getting close to grandma age and one of my best friends from grade school has a son in college.....not me
i will definitely post some pictures
loves,
annie
I was not that big in highschool.....was always overweight.....but I live in the same town that I went to highschool so people saw me when I was bigger.....at my pre-reunion party one guy (that was married and his wife was there) kept going on about how good I looked and he kept saying I was the promqueen of the reunion...I was embarrassed but it did feel good.....You look so good....I bet some won;t even know who you are.....I would not worry about the catty people.....just go there and have fun....I bet those girls are going to be jealous of you....
Top 'o the mornin' to you Annie
It's funny you mention class reunions. My 25 year reunion is this weekend, but I'm in TX visiting my parents. I was truly going to go this year, too. I've avoided them every year until now because it's just too uncomfortable.
I dropped out of HS the first week of the tenth grade because I was pregnant and as big as a house. I really was the "loser/stoner" in HS. That has changed though and I've done many good things since then, and I wanted to go be proud of myself this time; for the weight loss, for getting a college degree, for being self sufficient, etc., etc., etc.
Yours sounds like it's going to be fun and that HS wasn't a bad experience for you like it was for me. lol Have fun and hold that Mr. Nate tight when you see him!
