Has anyone had a revision from RNY proxmile to distal? In the last 2 years I have gained back 30 pounds and even though I have lost 190 pounds, I am still MO. My surgeon refuses to revise to distal because of the malabsorption issues and thinks I should be happy with were I am because the weight I am carrying (below the waist) will not cause me medical problems. I am having trouble finding a surgeon who will revise because 1) I am not their patient and 2) my surgeon is still practicing. I really want a fighting chance or should I say second chance to at least get below 200 pounds Christine ps please answer on board as i will not get my email

Leave well enough alone. Follow the pouch rules and the 30 lbs will come off. Surgery will not fix the problem that you are having. Any weight loss surgery you can gain your weight back.. You have to solve the problems that you are having to make you eat more than you are supposed to and to often patty

Patty Thanks for your response. I just went to see my PCP and we talked about my weight gain and reasons why and he also felt I should try non surgercial means first. He has referred me to a Psycoligist and I know that my eating has nothing to do with hunger. Christine

The amount of intestines bypassed is rarely the reason for this...it's more likely your stoma is too large which doesn't allow the pouch to fill properly after a small amount of food. There are 2 fixes for this issue: either go in and have the stoma re-worked or place a lap-band over the stoma and adjust it to the appropriate size. Has this issue been ruled out? Nancy
