Hi Tzvi, I don't think you can do it, the pyloric valve (the one at the bottom of the stomach) is removed during a RNY. In a switch they preserve it. I don't know how important that is but keeping the pyloric valve is what keeps people from dumping.

Cindy's incorrect---they do NOT remove the pyloric sphincter when the RNY is performed. It remains in place at the bottom of the large, 'blind' pouch created from most of the old stomach. If you weren't transected, converting over to the DS should be fairly simple. If you were transected, it may still be possible, just a trifle more complicated. Just be certain the surgeon you're trusting to do this is highly experienced in both doing the DS in general, and revisions in particular. Read your profile, and your surgeon is the expert of choice,With Dr Gagner, His senior associate.who taught just about every body else in ny how too. Dr G will be doing my surgery on referal from three RNY doctors because of sorts I am have a gastric revision from a surgery that prevents the RNY or Band.
