Today I had an endoscopy done and found out my staple line has ruptured. I am almost a year out and as far as I know I haven't gained weight but I have lost no more. I have questions about the revision. My stomach was not transected either. Anyone out there with information for me about the whole process I would really like to know what I am getting into! Thanks so much! ~Carey~

Are you saying that the surgeon stapled across your stomach but never cut it away? They're not supposed to do it that way for RNY, are they? I'm confused...Dj

Some still do. There was a lady on the Q&A asking about this just this week. She has a SLD, but her surgeon just wants to repair it, but not transect b/c he feels transecting is "too risky". I responded to her that it might be slightly higher risk than not transecting, but who knows how long the staples will last this time. Transecting is a lot less risky than multiple surgeries to correct the same problem over again!

My situation is slightly different. I had a SLD with my VBG surgery and was revised to RNY (transected). My doc had to take down the old VBG before he started the RNY. I had the same type of recovery as any of his "virgin" RNYs. Started on liquids, then puree, then anything as tolerated. What kind of questions do you have?

Hi, I also had a vbg and now have problems. My doctor states that it is just a mess. Not exactly what the problem is. I am looking at a revision with rny. How have you done since your revision? Patty scared
