Friend in Need
I have a new friend that I have met at work who had a RNY 2 years ago- lost over 200 pounds, she recently went through a nasty divorce and what appears to be a moderate level of depression during which she gained back about 30-40 pounds. She is now pulling herself out of this and trying to get back on track. Any sugesstions?
Hi Ginger, sorry to hear about your friend but am so very happy to know that you care enough about the individual to seek help. Just remain to be a friend and keep in contact with her. Join a gym together if you guys can afford it. If not, you have got to let her know that you want to help her. She is apparently using food as a comfort thing as I well know. Get physically active by walking and talking with her. At lunch, instead of eating go for a walk and talk. 30-40 pounds can be packed on in about 2 months so please talk to her. Sometimes we as friends must be a little harsh, but be truthfull. Tell her you don't mean to hurt her feelings but ask her if she wants to be the way she was before the surgery. How about getting involved with a hobby you both might enjoy. I went to school at a local high school and took up stained glass. I turn to my glass instead of the refrigerator now and am very proud of what I accomplished. Good Luck.

Hi:
I have always been told to go back to basics when that happens...protien, liquids, vitamins, and excerise. I hope that helps.
I like Nectar as a protien suppliment and it is inexpensive for the portion you get...only requiring water to mix. And it taste really good. Fish, and low fat meats are recommended. Salad and veggies...some fruti but not alot because that can actually clock you up, (smile). Vitamins and workout...sounds pretty basic and with your support, she will do fine.
