Hi, I am a new poster here; but I was just wondering- are any of you able to eat 'regular' size meals anymore. Like a kids meal size? I am sure many of you can who had RNY and were not transected, but if you were especially, are you able to?? thank you bb

Hi BB, I am two years post op and I can eat something about the size of a happy meal. However, I stay extremely full and don't feel the best after doing it. MCDs was never a good choice. Keep in mind you will NEVER eat regular sized meals again unless you learn to work around the surgery. You would be stretching out the pouch and basically reversing everything you did. Good luck to you.

Yes, I can eat 3 pieces of pizza, I can eat a regular size extra value meal, minus all the fries, I can consume 2/3rds of the regular cottage cheeze container in one sitting. I was able to do this almost 6 months after surgery. But no one in the medical community can seem to think I have any thing wrong with my surgery. I went to a smart arce doc here in Kansas, who said I graze too much and that I do not count calories, and said I need to go to weigh****chers! Ha!! I went through a low calorie, low fat diet for 4 months. I did lose a very small ammount of weight, but the point here is that my pouch is small, and I do not have a pyloric valve anymore. The surgeon made a psudo one and the opening is like a large funnel that drains my food into my large intestine quickly. I do not stay satiated for more than two hours with ANYTHING I eat, and with 2 upper GI's under my belt, the doctors I have gone to here in the midwest think I am insane. They say there is nothing wrong, and that I am eating too much. I believe they do not want to go through opening me back up and sifting through the mess. It would be diffrent if I was a lazy butt, and did not excercise or was not active, and I would admitt if I ate too much or if I eat large amounts, but I don't. Any one else out there go through this? Or am I the only nutcase?
