4 years post op and vomiting daily
I had RNY 4 years ago, and I have been having problems with vomiting for about a year now. It seems that my stomach is unable to empty sometimes. I am pretty much unable to eat any type of meat, chicken, etc. Even threw up fish last night for 3 hours (that is unusual, usually vomit once or twice to get everything out).
I've moved to a different state from when I had my surgery done, and am currently struggling to find a doctor who will look in there. I'm told the anastamosis often closes up at around 3 years. I'm considering a revision instead of just stretching it. Any suggestions on a different procedure? I'm thinking that the food should go out the normal route, and the stomach juices through the anastamosis -- that would make more sense. I have a friend who had it done this way, but don't know what it's called.
After reading a few horror stories, I'm sort of afraid to mess with it, but vomiting every single day is not really an option for much longer. My teeth have rotted terribly.
I appreciate any insight anyone has.
I'm newly out of RNY (7 weeks), but sometimes when my pouch doesn't want to empty, I find if I sip some hot (like tea) water with some baking soda mixed in, it helps tremedously. Doesn't taste good, but does the trick.
You might also want to post your question about a doctor in your new area on the Nevada site?? (Maybe you already have). Someone may have some suggestions on local doctors.
Best of luck to you, and I hope you get to feeling better soon!

Hello, just wanted to let you know that I am 4 years post op also. I throw up all the time and often times any type of food makes me so sick. If you are drinking any kinds of liquid with your meals, stop. That makes a difference. I went to one dr. and he said, that is just something you are gonna have to live with. WOW. I do have problems with my bowels backing up and have to take meds at time for this.
