Has anyone had a revision that has Aetna insurance with in 2004? I had the old lap band surgery in 1998 with Dr. Molina in Houston, Texas - boy what a joke - it lasted about 7 months and I lost about 50 lbs and now i have gained right back up to where I was before surgery. I am planning on the RNY - open - HELP!!

I had the same problem. Aetna did not have a clause for revisions, just first time weight loss surgery. What I had to do, even though my doctor said it was a revision, is request the surgery like it was the first time. In the eyes of Aetna, it is not a revision, it's a whole different surgery. So request again. Also, they automatically turn down your first request. Make sure you appeal right away and follow their instuctions for doing so. Good Luck and let me know what happens!

I have Aenta HMO and had a revision on 1/25/05 they approved it immediately. my only problem is the doctor did not revise my pouch or stoma and i have not been loosing any weight - i have a follow up with him today and am very upset about it. Don't know if i will keep my appt. I am now looking into other options. Just make sure your surgeon does a revision on your pouch!!!!!
