What does it feel like to "not get full"??

I am 11 months post op RNY, however for the past few months have not been able to really get full with a normal amount of food. I party think it is all in my head and I just don't know when to stop, however I rarely get full, and it takes much more than any other RNY patient that I know! (I can eat a 10 oz. steak+ and not be 'stuffed') I am afraid that maybe my staple line is ruptured or my stoma is enlarged? I try and just count calories but then I am always hungry! I never feel full or satisfied! Is an upper GI the only way to test for this? I have had abdominal CT scans and both could see the staples in my stomach. Thoughts? Natalie

You need to take the upper GI to find out if you have leakage. The CT scan cannot detect a leak, but the fluids you drink for the upper GI can detect this. You should also talk with your dietitian. Good Luck. Fran

That is alot of meat especially to be able to eat. Steak is so dense it should be hard to eat over 4-5 oz at 11 months out. What did your doctor say about it? I assume you must have told him for them to have done a cat scan. Are you drinking with your meals? I don't know what could be allowing you to eat that much meat but i tend to think you really should have the upper GI to find out what is going on just for peace of mind if nothing else. Good luck, Kathy
