What is this stomach pain?

I have the lap-band. What is the stomach pain I am feeling?  Has anyone had this?

It feels almost like a charlie horse right under my ribs in the center then spreads out all under my ribs.  It eventually goes away.  But, wow, when it is there you can hardly stand up straight.

Thanks for any information.

Thank you for your reply.

I have had the lapband for four years and I just started getting this year 4.  So I don't think it is something with the change with the lap band.  But I don't have a clue what it is.

I am just getting it more and more.

Thanks again.

Hi Pickles.  I do not have a lap band. I had RNY 3 years ago and I get the very same pain that you described.  I had various tests (MRI, cat scan, endoscope) done, including a heart cath because they thought maybe it was heart related.  Nothing.  Could find absolutely nothing causing this pain.  The thing that my cardiologist mentioned made sense though.  He said that I could be having esophageal spasms.  That totally made sense to me. As you said, it does feel like a muscle spasm (charlie horse) right in the middle of your gut and then spreads.  So after all the other tests proved nothing, I'm going with esophageal spasms.  Don't know what triggers them. They just hit me out ot the blue and they HURT!  Hope this bit of into helps you.

Thanks Chabellita and MBentz (I hope I spelled your names correctly, it is late)

Thanks for the replies.  I have my band out Tuesday. I am specifically asking Dr about this pain under my ribs and check if he sees anything when he is in there.

I am glad to be having this out but nervous about surgery.
