Hello, I have a few questions, and Yes, I have asked my doctor already, and he told me 9 days post -op, that I could start eating food, not pureed, not liquid, food as chicken ( soft of course) and that I can drink water, ( and not 2 oz every 15 minutes) I thought we were supposed to drink normally about 3 month's post-op ? And when I do a protein shake with soy milk, I was only able to drink about 3 oz, should I stick to just 2 oz? My doctor told me to eat 2 oz -3x a day, how am i supposed to get all the protein I need on 2 0z meals, 3x a day. He told me I can eat, chicken with some green beans ( 2 oz), and two more  meals and that is it.I can't even exercise yet for I still have this tremendous pain in my abdomen, I have to hold my gut up when I walk outside . Am, I eating enough, I had my surgery on April 24, 2013 . My starting weight was 383 and I lost 39 pounds post-op and since April 24, I now weigh 325, I have lost 19 pounds in 15 days. I can't wait for this abdomen pain to go away so as I can go walking and workout. Can you give me any food ideas on a 2 oz meal ?

Chicken was (and still is) very dry and stringy to me. Don't be surprised if you can't swing it this early out.

How about cottage cheese, deli turkey, sugar-free pudding, hummous, low fat cheese stick, greek yogurt, fruit cup, fish, mashed potatoes. That's about all I was eating at 1 month out. Start easy, give your tummy lots of time to heal.

Are you logging your food? Yes just concentrate on protein, whatever you have to do to get it in. My doctor told me rules about eating that still can't even follow, so sometimes I think the doctors give a "best case scenario" but we all are different. Keep sipping liquids constantly (including protein drinks), and slowly. Try small bites of things and see if you can swallow them/digest them easily without lots of pain. It will be repetitive for a while but that's how it goes. Find your safe foods that your new tummy can handle.

It works if you work it; it sorta works if you sorta work it; and it doesn't work if you don't work it.

I did pretty well with eggs and lean ground beef at that stage. Careful about the yoghurt - don't "feed" your sweet tooth at all and as silly as it sounds don't worry about making stuff taste good! This close to your surgery you must look at food as a means of survival and nothing more.  Look at this as a chance to wean off carbs which at this stage is just as important as controlling portion sizes. Best of luck to you! Remember! Protein, protein, protein! Don't be surprised if you don't have room for veggies - my Dr. always told me eat the protein first! God Bless! The first 6 months are a critical stage - when you'll lose the most weight with the least effort.

I find it odd that you are in a "failed WLS" forum asking for advice on what to eat.

Why not get out of here and start your WLS in a more positive place?

Quinoa  provides fiber to bulk up stool, and phosphorus to help stimulate bowel movements.  So you can try this.
