Am I failing??????
My name is Steve, here is my story!
VSG Surgery
Highest weight 440 pounds
July 2009 - Surgery day weigh in 387 pounds
2010 - 2011 -Lowest weight 2 years later 230 pounds but was maintaining good in the 240's
January 2011 - Met my wife to be. Eating habits start to change and I am not strong enough to say no
Today: I weigh 300 pounds. Since meeting my wife I have went from being in the 240's to now around 300 pounds.
First the great things:
I met my wife and have 2 beautiful girls.
I lost a ton of weight
My stomach still seems small enough if I eat the non-slider foods.
The bad things:
I went from a size 56 waist to a size 40 back to a size 46
I work midnight shift as a 911 dispatcher. I have more stress in my life now that I am married with 2 kids. I tend to take my stress out in the food I eat.
I do not exercise enough. I hate doing it!
I drink too much coffee, too much diet dew, and not enough water.
My wife likes to eat out. So do I but I never did it after my surgery until I met her. We also tend to have more junk food at home. My will power is lacking because I like to eat out and if the junk food is at home I am going to eat it.
My questions:
Does talking to a therapist specializing in weight loss surgery help? I am thinking I should really talk to someone but does it help?
I told myself I would never fail.
You are living life, and getting too comfortable, is the only thing, you are guilty of. I am here to tell you, that the wt. will easily return if we do not do our part. And I know it's more than hard. Iam struggling at being almost six yrs. post. surgery. I have regain from LW, 25lbs. I am now currently on a mission to get the 25 back off, & then more! I never made to goal 6-yrs. ago. Yes I have beat my self up, but I refuse to consider my self a failure or have any type of revision of any type.
I just have to re-commit my self like I did, after surgery, try to eat moderately and do what I love to hate is EXERCISE!!!!!!!!!! be honest, did you stop doing all of what you did before. Well I know I did, and that's our biggest problem, slipping back into what made us canidates for surgery in the first place. It's never to late to get back on track, as they say! I am a true witness, of trying to get on point and I am not going to tell you it's been easy, it's been really hard with a slow loss on top of being so hard!!! I to got to comfortable with my new body and life, and let wl, fall by the waistside.I am thinking all I have going on in my life now, and incorperating some "exercise" into the mix is beyond difficult, but i am determined to lose again, I will not lose as fast as before, but I am capable of doing it. Believe in yourself. And let your spouse and daughters know, you need their support. You came to far to go back!! You can start anew. I am trying my self. And OH is here for us All in whatever battle we are going through in the journey!! A whole lot has happen good things, in your life! losing wt. getting married, and you CAN do it again, especially if we/YOU try! Best wishes to you! and keep me posted.
And therapy is a great way to START!!! Best wishes and
Good luck to you....., ladybugj
In my opinion, yes, you are failing. You are failing by the choices you are making. Your sleeve isright there, ready and willing to help you do the job.
Talking to a therapist is a GREAT way to start yourself back on the right track. GL
Seriously?? It is NOT your job to tell someone they are failing. Gawd, I just LOVE these holier than thou attitudes. Just because you have had WLS, does NOT make you an expert nor a professional.

he made it my "JOB" when he posted the question on a public forum. Who m ade it YOUR job to question MY OPINION? when you have been around more than a minute you might be qualified to post an opinion.
Excuse my ignorance....I was not aware that WLS came with a professional degree and made you qualified to give advice if someone is a failure or not. Is the degree part of the surgery price or did you have to pay extra?
What IS your problem? I AM WALKING the road with the man. I know EXACTLY what he is going thru every day. I struggle just like he does, and I fail too.
i get up every day starting new. He asked a QUESTION and I gave hoim my opinion. You need to keep your mouth shut because yes you ARE ignorant and don't even have a TINY clue about life post WLS. Now **** off before I block your ignorant ass,
