Stretched Pouch Maybe??
I am ashamed! I have fallen off the wagon, rolled down a hill and into a ditch! I had my surgery in March 2008. Started at 298, got down to 207. Now I'm back up to 240. I said I'd NEVER let this happen. I don't know HOW it happened. I'm so afraid that I've stretched my pouch to the point of no return. I have 5 day pouch test "book", and I'll be implementing that starting tomorrow. But, does anyone know if you can "un-stretch" your pouch? I guess I just need to get back to the regimen of PROTEIN FIRST, NO CARBS, NO SODA......I feel like a failure. Does anyone have any tips for success that might help me?
Let me know when you get back on track because I need to as well. I have gained back 60 from my lowest weight after starting at 354. If you want to try a buddy system let me know and we can give it a try. Today I am preparing for a colonoscopy so I figured it would give my system a good clean point to start from. I know I have way too many carbs. Getting married seemed to push me over the edge since he is a great cook and I feel like I have failed myself. You can send me a personal message if you would like. I need to find my old information and go back to the beginning!! We can do this!!! Let's start TODAY!!!
Hey, it can't hurt to have a buddy!! I am starting the 5 day pouch test tomorrow. I'm bound and determined. I'm also going to start going to CURVES again.....and I am hoping to get my hubby to go on a short bike ride after dinner each night. Both my kids are out of the house now, so it's just us. It SHOULD be easier! So, what's your name? Where are you? Do you have a family? What age group are you in?
So you are having a colonoscopy? Is that by choice? Was it recommended? What does that do? I don't think I've had one before (well, maybe I had one before my surgery, can't recall).
Well, I'm off to bed. Wish me luck this week! And.....you should do it too! We can check back in with each other on Friday.

I got down to 197 - got pregnant - and went back up to 230. I had a revision done last year and am getting back on track. We all forget how easy it is to fall into our old habits. They sneak up on us it seems. But you will get back on track. You can also do the 5 day pouch test as well. It can be googled. For some it helps reclaim the pouch.
I would love to know how the 5 day pouch test is going for you. I have been run over by the wagon and it keeps backing up and going forward again. I stalled after 100lbs lost, gained back 20, so that puts me at needing to still lose 120 or so. :( Not sure what happened but I have turned into a binge eater (sugary carbs) which I never was before and I dont know how to get my mind back on trac****ep myself sick and stomach to the stretching point and I still can't stop myself.
I just stumbled on this post, I haven't been on the site in so long because of the shame of gaining much of my weight back. I have been a huge advocate for the surgery and I even wrote a book.
But yes, the wagon has taken off with out me, I fell off and am having a hard time getting back on. I've done the Atkins for about 3 weeks along with taking Phentermine. The phentermine did help curb my appetite and I lost about 15lbs, but as soon as I stopped taking the pills my appetite came back with a vengeance. I see alot of people suggesting the 5day pouch test and Im gonna try it. It's hard finding the motivation and support sometimes.
but I have to do it, also, I see alot of people talk about revision surgery. Does insurance pay for that?
Thanks for the great info and I will be back to post my results with the pouch test.
