Gained weight and scared

I had VSG 6/2008. I lost 114 pounds and have gained back 60 pounds. I am ashamed and completely embarrassed. I am so worried about what this weight gain has done to my body. What have I done to myself by gaining this weight back? I am worried that I have really messed up my stomach and put my health at risk by gaining back the weight and stretching my stomach. What else could I have done to my 'insides' by gaining this weight back?

Yes, forget the shame!  We *all* struggle with food issues or we wouldn't have had surgery in the first place.  The struggle is for life.

Post on the VSG forum and we will all give you lots of support.

I am sure you can turn things around.  My guess is you are eating the wrong kinds of food, not just too much, right?  Carbs are big sliders for me.  Plus, they can trigger hunger and all sorts of nasty cravings that are so hard to manage.

((Hugs!!))

I guess I find this surprising more than shameful....I didn't know that the stomach could stretch back out that much in that period of time??  Maybe I'm naive....
I've "read" that because the VSG is part A of the duo switch - you could go back and get the duo switch as well?  Again....maybe my info is not correct....I can understand your fears.

Forget the shame.  Your self esteme is the only thing that has been damaged.  Get back to the basics and relearn what you need to do.  You can do it.
