Revision on 03/04/13
I had posted this on the main Lap-Band board but then saw this forum so i thought i would post it here too.

I had the band about 6 years ago and i now would like to have it removed.  It is doing nothing for me and i hate the idea of having this foreign object in my body.  A friend of mine who is getting the sleeve told me that the surgeon where i live said they are thinking about not doing the lap-band anymore.  Anyways, i am curious if insurance would pay for it and if so what kind of information do they need.

Thank you

I had mine removed and insurance paid.  I explained I was having difficulties and it was immediately approved!

I think it all depends on  your insurance. Some companies only cover 1 bariatric surgery per lifetime unless thier is some kind of complication that is NOT due to non-compliance. Good luck!!!!

What has caused you to do so badly? Have you lost motivation and desire to be healthy? Have you reached the goals you set?

You sound exactly like me! I had failed a lap-band in my body for 2 1/2 years. My insurance would not pay for revision until after the 2 years and proof from hospital I've followed a diet plan.
Recieved the sleeve on 2/22/12 and am very happy. Lost 10lbs and am walking and doing minor chores around the house. Still some pain (to be expected) and have a drainage tube which will be removed on Friday. I'm taking my Biotin now to avoid minimal hair loss and multi vitamins for over all health. Some include chewables.
I say go for it and get the ball rolling a.s.a.p. If you don't get the sleeve, please do remove that lap band Girl!
Best wishes and keep us posted.  for now.
