Why would a gastric bypass need revision??
I had my surgery November 2007 weighing 309lbs. I lost 150 in a flash with almost no effort & was over the moon. These past years have been the best years of my life.....but today I got on the scale & I have regained 30lbs in 2 months.I went and bought a bottle of appetite suppressant. I am back to where I started.
I am just wondering what causes the weight gain? Does your stomach stretch? And please only answer this question if you have experienced this or know it for a fact. I went back to my doctor for a check up & he just ignored what I was saying telling me I look fantastic. He says it is not possible for the stomach to stretch.
If you think you possible need a revision where do you start because obviously the doctor who did the surgery is not going to help me.What are the reasons for needing the revision.I honestly thought the joy I had in these last 4 years would be motivation enough to keep it off but looks like it is not.

I did not have RNY, I had a lapband but I know two people personally who had RNY and yes, they stretched their pouches and gained a significant amount of weight back. One of them is looking at having another surgery.
Good luck in your journey. I hope you find a good, supportive doctor. That can make all the difference for you.
I had a by pass in 2005 and lost 186 lbs very quickly. I maintained for several years but over the past 2 yrs. I had been telling my surgeon that I was HUNGRY right after I ate. I think that he just thought it was head hunger. I put back on about 75 lbs.
I needed a endoscopy to check for an ulcer and my surgeon observed. They found that the pouch is fine but the stoma was distended which was why I would be hungry again quickly after I had eatten.
Anyway, I just had a band over bypass done last week.
If you want to keep using that surgeon insist that he do some tests to determine if this is a physical issue. Also, make sure that you are keeping track of what you eat. I had a few months after I KNEW what was wrong before I could take the time to try to correct it so in that time I concentrated on tracking again. I lost about 25lbs that way before my surgury and then the liquid diet now is taking more off.
Good Luck to you at getting back to where you want to be!

I'm having the same issue I'll eat and I feel hungry quickly after and I've gained some weight. I'm back to diet pills and diet stuff again, I had my gastric bypass done in November 2011 I lost 176 lbs and I'm getting very nervous because I don't want to gain all the weight I lost. Should I go back to my doctor that completed the surgery and tell her because maybe I need mine revised.
Hello, I had surgery in October of 2007. I have been debaiting on calling the Dr. because it has been so long since I have seen him. I have decided to call and make an appointment because I too have gained about 30 pounds. It is very depressing and the feeling of being a weight loss surgery failure is absolutely horrable. I have been looking at diet books, diet pills, diet bars, etc. I am also back to where I started. Yes I still have alot of the weight of but not enough that i feel comfortable. I have been having alot of issues that I have been wondering about medically. I wonder if it has anything to do with the surgery. I am still very low on nutrients such as iron and protien. I have very bad cravings. I want things that are fattening and that make me very sick but I still force myself to eat them. I get very sick from these things. I know exactly how you are feeling because I am going through the same exact thing. I look forward to seeing following posts on this.
I had surgery in September 2009 and have lost over 100lbs. Its been two years and my weight is up and down. Im battling 10 lbs. I tried the 5 day pouch test and it worked great. Got my weight back down and shrunk my stomach. But I do eat more now than ever. So im trying to see if watching my calorie intake as well as trying to keep my protein up will help. Good luck!!

I am 2 1/2 years post op and had some of these creeping regain issues .
Then i found the clean eating forum where I learned even more than I thought I aleady knew about hidden fats in common foods and weight gain promoting hormones as well ...
These factors may not matter very much in the losing phase but I find they are VERY important to successful weight maintenance .
For me a diet high in fiber and fresh usually organically grown veggies and fruits ... extremely low in fat , dairy and flour and relatively low in meat and seafood WORKS. I find I dont even have to exercise daily to maintain my size zero size which is an amazing blessing .
Pre op and even post op I used to have to begin every day with a run or else I was several lbs heavier the next day . Of course im still VERY active .
I personally NEVER diet or " pouch test " I really think diets make U fatter . But I do eat with common sense .
