 Hello everyone,

It has been 10 months since my Lap Band surgery and everything was going great! I had lost over 50bls, going from 255bl to 183bl. But now I'm being to plateau. I have been fluctuating between 183 and 190. I had to move in with my mom for school so I thought she would help me out with this, but she buys a lot of junk food. As some of you know the temptation is strong, and the fact that I can't get below 183 is not helping me ether (I'm and emotional eater). I have been walking about a mile or to on occasions but it's hard to do with collage and the bad weather (I’m in Florida). So when I can I do Pilates and my Wii Active. However nothing seems to be bringing me down anymore then 184. So I figure it's my eating. Could some help me with the diet part? What type of diet are you on? How much do you eat? Do you measure it? If you have any other suggestions I would gladly take them.

Thank you very much.

You may have better luck on the main board or the lap band board....

I'll give you a few tips.

Regardless of which surgery we have, it is to be the beginning of a new lifestyle.  You will be responsible for making choices every day.  Ideally, you'll make more good ones than bad ones.

Weight loss is simple science.  Calories in-calories burned = added or (deficit) calories.  You have to consume less than you burn to create weight loss.  If you are not making time for exercise regularly, you'll be behind the 8 ball most of the time.  The more you burn, the more you'll lose.   The more muscle you develop, the more energy your body needs just for regular functioning....so build muscle to ramp up the metabolism.

If you try to stay completely away from any particular type of food, you'll feel deprived, and then you'll likely gorge on it.  Try the 3 bite rule:  give yourself permission once a day to have 3 bites of something that isn't the best choice.  I guarantee you'll either forget about it after the 3 bites, or you won't gain from just having 3 bites and you wont feel deprived.

Bottom line:  you are going to be faced with food you'd rather not have the rest of your life.  You have to take care of you and make the best choices to reach your goals.

Wishing you the best,

Kim

All I can tell you is to get on a site that helps you food log and put everything you eat in your log. It will show you exactly what your doing and help keep you honest. Be accountable for what you do to yourself. We can only control what we do...nothing else. You can do this!

I do herbalife smoothies twice a day, a simple meal and several protein rich snacks, string cheese, greek yoghurt etc.  I love the herbalife products, they taste good and are full of nutrition,  If you want to read more about my journey of RNY in 2001 weight loss and gain and and now 36 lbs lost since May you can read my blog at www.healthy-wealthy-n-wise.com/blog
