Band slipped insurance won't approve reversal
Ok so I've switched Drs and found out my band slipped. When I had my band surgery I was with a different company and it was approved. Now at my new job it's NOT covered therefore they don't want to pay for the reversal. The dr office is still attempting to submit it but didn't think it would go through. Has anyone else been through this?? Can it stay in? I have had the fill completely taken out and was told by the doctor no more fills at all. It's up at the top of my stomach. HELP!!!?????
Sorry I haven't been through this. I've heard of insurance companies covering for "complications" related to surgeries when you no longer have coverage with them. Just a suggestion, but perhaps you or your current dr office might try contacting your former insurance company to see if anything can be done? It's a long shot, but worth a try.
Good luck...I hope everything works out

My band slipped too. When I had my band surgery my insurance did not cover ANY WLS....so I was a self-pay. Less than a year after that, my job switched to another insurance company that did cover WLS...but they wouldn't cover fills, etc., because I didn't go through all the bells and whistles (the prediet, counseling, etc) .
Now that my band slipped, and have pictures, I wanted a revision to sleeve. They would not cover a revision, but are covering to fix the band. I am scheduled to have this done the beginning of June. Please realize that my band went back into place, but my doc and I believe it had slipped several times before and an unfill fixed it....but he (thank goodness) will not put any fluid in until it is repaired. Maybe try the "repairing" with your insurance company.

In 2009, I wanted to have an RNY at Stanford Hospital, but my band needed to be removed first. My insurance company told my surgeon's staff it didn't require prior approval -- and then after I had the surgery, the insurer rejected coverage, leaving me with a $33,000 bill! A gifted attorney I found through ObesityHelp challenged the rejection -- and won me coverage!

His fee for this help was $1200. This was a lot of money to come up with, but it was worth every cent. His going to bat for me literally saved my life.
