Should have started my pre-op diet and did not -- surgery is 13 days away!

I should have started my preop diet today and caved in during the late night hours.  I plan to get back on the wagon tomorrow now that the "goodies" have left the building.  Should I postpone surgery as a result?  I am scheduled for April 26 which is still 13 days away.

IMO - you should be fine. Just try to follow it. That is really important.

Ok, thanks.  Today I am determined to succeed.  And try and go to bed to forget my hunger......

Surgeons put us on a preop liquid diet to shrink the liver to make the surgery easier.  I have asked every bariatric surgeon I've talked to, all of three, if they'd ever had a liver so big they had to cancel the surgery, and they all said no.

So since you still have most of your 14 days, you should be fine.  Now if you were two or three days away from surgery, you would be in a different situation.

You will be fine.

Also - you don't need to post this in the "failed weight loss surgery" forum.   You will probably have much better luck going to the main board or the one for your particular surgery.  Not a lot of people check this one.

My surgery is 5 days away.  I cheated the first  day of my three week diet.  Went crazy at golden corral the first day.   I learned the only thing that helps is drink broth.  Beef or chicken because after three days the shakes made me sick.  Just could not stand the taste. Never thought I could get sick of chocolate or Vanilla.  The orange shake with vanilla is disgusting to me.  Wasted thrirty dollars on that one.  Just drinking the shake once or twice a day. Suppose to be three times a day.  i would rather drink water.

If you cannot find a protein supplement drink you can tolerate, you will have a very hard road ahead because you are supposed to stay on protein drinks only  for two weeks after the surgery, AND YOU WILL NEED THE PROTEIN TO HEAL.  Sorry, did not mean to yell at you, but this is important.

Isopure is a clear liquid protein supplement that many people who don't like the creamy shakes usually tolerate well.  Also, Unjury protein has an unflavored protein powder that you can add to broth, tea and coffee.  It's been almost two years for me and I still need to use protein supplements.  Fortunately, I love the Muscle Milk Light that is only sold at Cosco (170 cal, 20 grams protein).

Best of luck!

see if you can try other brands. i hated all of them and now i use the BSN desserts and they are sooo good. i know it gets boring- you can add different flavorings, coffee, fruit (check with your doc). It is true that you will need a good amount of protein to heal. i add PB2 peanut butter (soooo yummy) to my chocolate shakes and i feel like i am cheating. best of luck to you on your awesome journey!!!!

one day no, I would keep on track from now on... if you find you are constantly not able to stick with your prep diet then I think you most likely won't be able to follow the rules afterwards either.
..ummm.... your not really starting off well posting in the" failed WLS forum".
