Will Insurance pay for the lapband to be put in twice?
Emergency surgery to remove mine on 6-26-10. I had lost 71 pounds. I have gained back 15 since having it removed. Wondering if anyone knows if Blue Cross Blue Shield will pay to have it put back in if I am not obese anymore. I am still over weight and I will be obese very soon if I don't get my tool back! I am so frustrated over all the hard work and now being left with no band.
I had a second band placed 6 months after my first surgery. It was emergency surgery since the first surgeon did everything wrong that he possibly could. The initial band had to be removed and the new surgeon placed a new one. Insurance paid for it, I ended up having to have it removed a year and a half later because I almost croaked off from all the damage that was done in the initial surgery. Now I'm outta luck, I've gained a lot of weight back and can't have any revision surgery.
Please make sure you aren't too damaged to be having another surgery. It's a lot to go through and you can end up with adhesions. (I speak from experience!)
I feel for you. I hope you can figure something out. Maybe you could look into a Sleeve. I think it's a better long term option than the band, for sure.
Good luck!

I have had two lapband surgeries and my insurance covered both surgeries. The only difference is when I had the old band out the new one was put in at the samek time. I have continued to have problems with my band so I'm scheduled for a revision over to a bypass on Nov. 3. The thing is I now have a new insurance and was afraid they wouldn't approve this surgery. It's BCBS and they approved me within a week of receiving my info. from my surgeon. You can always call your insurance company to ask.
Good luck!!!
