I Failed...
Nah... Don't do it, Homie. Don't do it to yourself. Please!
Don't sit there and wonder what happened or what's not happening. Personally, I think you just have to change things up a bit. I say this because, like you, I weighed about 458 at my highest weigh in prior to surgery. The actual day of WLS I weighed around 438. Eight months later I had lost over 100 pounds - then things got really interesting - I stalled for like 2 months.
A friend from the BAF forum told me to reassess everything that I was doing (right, wrong, and indifferent) and to cut out anything unnecessary from my diet. That meant no more carbs like breads, muffins, cookies, etc. I had to switch from soda to diet iced tea because soda (any kind) is nothing but sugar, sugar, sugar. Most importantly, I had to slowly incorporate lifting weights into my workout. Muscle weighs more than fat but it also helps you lose weight faster by burning up the fat stored in our bodies for fuel to do their job. I didn't get it at first but it's definitely true.
Don't get down on yourself, just switch things up a bit. Take it from me I've been there; jumped over that hurdle; and kept it moving.
Hit me on the backline if you want to know more.
Take care.
Best wishes on making it work! You can do it! No time for failure talk!

It takes time, we are all different as to how fast we loose wt. some over nite it seems others it's a slower process, stay on the site to get your encouragement that you/we all NEED... don't give up... yes it's a battle, and you can win..but only if you keep trying, as for me! I'm trying again.. had a baby and gained wt. after his birth...let's just say I lost my way, but currently I working on finding my way back.. I'm doing a new plan combined w/my wls tool...WW-pts. last week I lost 4lbs. so that's a good start I think...Hang in there!! be strong!! keep us posted. Good Luck to you as you continue within your journey!! Peace. jbug
We won't all loose fast but most of us will get there eventually. Metabolism is a problem for many of us. My surgeon refered to my situation as metabolic challenges. Its just the way I'm made so I have to fight for each pound even post op.
I had barely 100 lbs to loose. Should have been quick right? It took 17 months with heavy exercise and working my plan. Meanwhile a friend who skips the gym more than she goes and hits the liquor often lost over 90 lbs in six months. Our surgury day bmi's were close. The later is her and the former is me. Metabolically I drew the short straw and she drew the long one.
Start with your nutritionist and track your foods religiously. If you are carb sensitive you may need to give them up limiting carbs to those from veg. Track your foods and exercise calories and learn your body's reaction to different foods.
Some good nitritious foods are no good for me. I see weight gain or stall every time I eat them. Journal and learn your body. Vary your food and workout routines. Research other compatible post op eating plans. I discovered options that worked better for me than my surgeon's plan. Check out the body building sites. They focus on loosing fat and preserving muscle. I learned a lot reading those sites.
You may need to make some changes but you must stick with it. Be accountable daily for your compliance. Be brutally honest with yourself and use objective measures of your actions. Know your calorie deficit every single day. That gives you info to take to your medical provider and confirms for you if you are really on point or only think you are.
You CAN do this.

LV'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
I had the surgery at 280lbs to get rid of Type 2 diabetes and live insulin free. I woke up from the surgery with my blood sugars in the 300's and they haven't come down at all. I had surgery 03/30/2010, I have lost 78 lbs, but my diabetes is more out of control then before I had the procedure. My cholestrol is actually higher as well? How this is even possible I will never understand. Everyone involved with my medical care wants me to go back on insulin, which we all know make you retain water and gain weight? Now why would I wanna do this to myself? To stay alive I guess, right? The $64,000 surgery was for absolutely nothing. I am still completely unhealthy. I understand your frustration and urge you to keep your head up. Iknow its hard, I get pissed about it everyday, but we gotta keep going.................................
Also, water weight does have the same negative health effects as fat weight. Remember, the goal of the surgery isn't to be thin at any cost, it's to get healthy. If you need to take insulin, you need to take insulin.

hey everyone i can relate to j..i sometimes feel like a failure, but when im loosing, im worried when people make those snide remarks about my weight loss. i originally had plan to get to 175-180. i lost a total of 72 pounds in almost two years. everyone kept saying my face was looking to skinny, etc. so i became laxed. put about 7 pounds back on. then, i became disappointed because i had deterioriated from my previous goal. at 195 my smallest people thought i was 160. they were encouraging me not to loose anymore. well, im back in the game with determination to succeed. this is a lifestyle change for me. if i offend anyone by looking too thin, to hell with them. im paying this note and by damn, im going to work this tool. so now, im tuning out everyone else. i have recently ordered weigh****chers info in addition to working my tool (the sleeve). im getting up going for long sweaty walks and blowing the dust off my equipment. it's not over, this phat lady hasnt sang......charlene..
