I have gained around 30 pounds since my RNY 2007. Not sure about anyone else but I am having a hard time getting the weight back off!! About four weeks ago I had the gastric scelrotherapy and OMG what a difference that has made. It is amazing how my restriction and fullness I got back from a 15 minute procedure!! I have lost 9 pounds and counting. YEA!! I just wanted to share!

wow that sounds INTERESTING  Chelle, especially because the rose procedure , ( the only one I know of to re-work the surgery ) does NOT work for anyone I have ever discussed it with .

DO TELL Grrlfriend ....  what is it  exactly ?

When I was evaluated in 2007 my stoma was 25mm and was told it was too big for scelrotherapy so I was a lead-in patient for the Restore trial.  That trial was a failure and they stopped it early.  Then they began the Rose procedure.  Some people are happy with the Rose procedure and others not.  I am done with revision thoughts.  My diabetes is under control without medication.  I find if I just eat veggies and fruits along with my protein and starches I can get by with 1600 calories. I am losing slowly and ok with that.  I am glad you are happy with the results of your revision.  Sounds like you only have 20 lbs. left to lose to get to your happy weight.    take care, Daisy

Hello. Can you tell me what gastric scelrothearpy is and how it is done? I had my RNY in 2008 and am gaining. I would like to see if it is something that is available through my doctor. Thank you for any info. I will also look it up on the internet..  Terry

sclerotherapy is where the Dr. goes down the throat with an instrument to inject a solution to cause the stoma to scar and each time it is done it is to help it get smaller by causing the scaring to form thus making the opening smaller and so food wont go thru too quick. It does work if the stoma has not stretched too big but in my case he could not get it to the size he wanted so he done the lap over gastric. Dont worry about it getting too small because they can also inlarge it if need be I checked that before I had it done

Thank you for the info. I just had some tests done and my stomach is still small, but the connection to the intestines is large. My doctor gave me a referral to a specialist, so I will see what they can do. I am thinking they just might say that I have to just go on a strict diet but I am not happy that food just seems to whoosh right though now..

that is what was happening to me food going on thru I think mine was too big even in the very early stage but your gastric bypass surgeon should be the one to do the sclerotherapy, dont let anyone else mess with going down into or getting close to your stomach opening, and only let a quaified surgeon do any endoscopys

I would only let my gastric bypass Dr. do even an endoscopy
