I just heard of someone who got a gastric band after failed roux en y surgery. I am gaining and feel like a failure. I can eat large portions again, and I cannot believe I am gaining. Has anyone else heard of or had a band after surgery?

It's very common try the lap band and revision forums.

I have gained some back as well and I recently had the bariactric sceleratherapy. Of course I am not losing the way I did when I first had my bypass, but I am losing and feel the restriction again. It has been a good thing for me!! Good luck!

Well, good luck to you too. I don't know anything about the procedure that you had. Was is a lap procedure? What does the doctor do?

It is a simple procedure that is done like an EGD---not invasive. They go in and make the opening from the stomach to the bowel smaller so that you feel full longer and feel the restriction like I did when I first had surgery. There is quite a few bariactric doctors that are doing this now.

I have not heard of that particular hospital either.
I just started looking around at the various procedures, I have gained back 45 pounds, and my portion sizes are close to normal again! I feel awful.
Furthermore I do not know if I even qualify for any type of revision, but I do not want to wait til I am 300 lbs again!

I had Gastric Bypass in 2003 and I lost 120. In 2006, I started gaining back the weight and I had Stomaphyx in 2008 which did not work.  My original surgeon suggested that I should have a band placed over my bypass.  I just met with Dr. Roslin who my original surgeon referred me too and my options were the band, or revising the bypass. The way my surgery was done the first time, doesn't allow for a DS or sleeve.  After having a upper GI, CT scan and endoscopy, they found that my stoma has stretched and my pouch has stretched back to an original stomach. Dr. Roslin said the band will not work for me and he will have to revise the bypass.
