I need help. After having the lapband for nearly two years and 4 surgery's later, in Dec. I had emergecy surgery to have it removed as it was eroded into my stomach and made a whole that would not allow fluids to pass and causing great pain.

I am healed now but GOD I MISS MY BAND. I have gained back some weight, not much but still have 60 lbs to lose to get to goal and I do not know how to lose it.

Talk about a huge failure. I miss my band. I want it back (no dr. would ever give me the band again) which I have accepted but this 5 years journey (remember all the surgery prep) is over and I want my band back.

I never hit goal and didn't know how to get to goal. Every band thing (possible complications) about the band, I had. It's a big deal and I miss the band. It was a TOOL but gave me some confidence that I no longer have.

Any thoughts? And diet tips?

Lora

Have you ever considered a sleeve gastrectomy ? You can go to the forum and read about it. Many people convert from the band to the sleeve. Hope this helps.

I know how you feel--I think--I had a band for 2 years, and over all did very well. I was 10 pounds from my goal weight when I had a major slip and had emergency surgery---I woke up with no band. I was devastated!! I tried to make the best of it, healed and carried on. Over the year, despite my best efforts, my weight slowly started increasing, until now I've gained about 25 pounds. I talked to my surgeon and he felt that I would be an excellent candidate for a Sleeve--because I had done well with restriction alone. I've done research, talked to my insurance company and I'm sceduled for my sleeve on June 14---two weeks!! I'm so happy and excited!! I start my liquid diet in 5 days. From what I've read the sleeve has everything the band had, plus more. Consistent restriction--not like I was. Some days I could barely eat a cheerio, other days a whole pizza. No PBing, no fills, unfills and reduced hunger. You should consider it!! Good Luck, Suzy

My dr. does not do the sleeve, could you tell me who your dr. is as you do live close to me? Thank you Suzsings.

I just looked at your location, and i don't think you're too far from here! My Dr. is Amir Heydari and he is in Woodstock, IL which is about 45 min from Rockford---where is Byron??? Did you have your original surgery in Harvard?? Woodstock is 15 min from Harvard.
