I have had the LapBand for 2 years and was told by my surgeon today that I am Band Intolerant and he recommends for me to be revised to the sleeve.  Just curious what others experiences are with this same revision.  I am nervous about another surgery but feel like I REALLY need a new chapter in my WLS journey, the last year with the band has been more than frustrating!

How much do you still have to lose? You might also want to consider the full DS---it's the Sleeve plus malabsorption, and the form of WLS with the very BEST long-term, maintained weight loss.

I am a band to sleeve patient. Best thing in the world. I've lost just as much if not more weight with VSG alone than some with a malabsorptive procedure. Come on over to the VSG board, and post.

I had a minimum of 113-115 pounds to lose when I had my revision. I hit that goal within 6.5 months, and have continued to drop below my surgeon's goal weight, but am maintaining in a healthy weight range.

The sleeve has been fabulous for me.

Good luck with getting a date. I just noticed you're in Texas. I'm originally from D/FW. I grew up out west of there near Weatherford, but spent my adult life in Bedford. Anyways, we played Alvarado in basketball tourneys back when I was in h.s.

My doctor said I cannot get the sleeve after lap band because my stomach is stretched out

I'm a band to sleeve revision as well. Band intolerance was just one reason I revised.

Good luck to you!

VSG on 12/13/10 with
what is the definiation of "band intolerant"

I want to make sure my doc uses all the right wording when submitting to insurance!!!

if I fail - they will revise from Band to RNY or DS

if the band fails me - they will revise to another band, Sleeve, RNY or DS
