Am I the only case- a medical anomaly?

I am post op RNY.  Had surgery 9 months ago.  I was just labeled a medical anomaly.  In the 9 months since surgery I have lost a total of 8 pounds now.  All the questions have run through my head.  What am I doing wrong?  Am I eating right, am I exsercising enough, am I taking the proper vitamins?  Do I drink enough water?  The questions go on and on.  Yes, yes, yes, & yes.  What is it then?

I'm confused, I'm depressed and I'm exhausted trying to figure this out.  So far my doctor just keeps having me come in for a visit every month for the past 3 months now.  No tests ordered, nothing.  Just asks me if I'm doing and following the regimen he has told me.  I think he is thinking I sit on the couch with a bag of chips and finish them off while watching a movie.  Every time I have an appointment it's the same.  Come back and see me in a month.

I want some answers....  I'm ready to give up.  I feel like I am on an emotional rollercoaster.  To top it all off in this wonderful economy I have been laid off and have no more medical Ins.  Thus probably being why the doctor hasn't done anything else.  He's already made his money so I'm just left behind.  I just want to say hey, wait a minute I am a living breathing feeling person here.  Please help me. A second opinion sounds great but I'm sure it will cost deerly and being a new patient as well as going behind my doctors back isn't always the best idea.  Some doctors can have pretty big egos and you don't want to bite the hand that feeds you...lol

It's hard to keep your head up when people that know about the surgery you have and you know they are thinking, well she just hasn't followed what is supposed to be done, no wonder she looks like she does.  I've gotten that my whole life from most people.  I know what to eat, I know what to do, I have a gym membership, I use it.
what do I do next?  All I can do now is sit and cry....  Am I all alone?  I read about people that have said there surgery failed because they have gained back the weight they lost.  But I have never heard anyone say that they didn't lose the weight to start with.  I just want to be normal and happy.  I'm not... I'm in tears.

I'll bet you anything that he didn't bypass enough intestine.

Do you have ANY post op diagnostics?  Like a barium swallow with a lower bowel follow through?  Anything at all?

If so if you get them scanned to CD and email them to me I can get you four opinions, two MX doctors and two US doctors, all revision surgeons.

This sounds so gut wrenching. i'm post op for bypass but have a band doing nothing. my fault not band. so excuse my inexperience here......................... The last persons post sounds so possible. In which case the surgeon needs to fix this FREE OF CHARGE. ......................see a solicitor with a free initial consultation. you are still within a safe period of time to find your surgeon accountable for this.
i wish you every success in the future. please dont give up. keep up your progress. your organs and breathing are all benefiting from the changes your making. please keep us posted. you are a brave lady......................go claim the recovery you deserve. x

I was one of my doctor's first lapbanding patients and I paid the price for it. I almost died from complications... AND he told me "to get a hobby" when I complained of being in severe pain for months. I'm so damaged that I can't even consider another form of WLS. I "fired" him when I told him that I hadn't had a bowel movement in 2 weeks and I felt like I was dying. He responded with anger toward me. That was when I knew I had to take charge of my own life. I found a different surgeon and he operated right away and saved my life.

I'm sorry you've had a hard time, too.

I had surgery on February 17, 2010, and I lost 18lbs the first week. At my 3 week check-up I had only lost 2 more pounds. Since then the scale has shown a small loss but I am working out like crazy and being so picky about what I eat.

Has anyone suggested you might have a metabolic disorder preventing you from losing weight like Hashimoto's or Cushing's disease?  Have the considered testing for it?  If you're following the rules as you say, I think you really should looking into seeing an endocrinologist.  www.cushings-help.com/

She works out; you don't. She follows her docs post op eating plan to the letter; you eat CRAP. You've lost a good amount of weight; she's GAINED from her surgical starting place!

Maybe I'm just reading this post wrong?!?

ETA: maybe you're responding to the person directly above you rather than to the OP?
