hello! I don't have my band removed yet... but will be soon! I have to have an EGD to see exactly what is going on (i have hardly any restriction if none) i also have this pain, not sharp but feels like muscle twinges right where my band should be every now and then and its a dull pain when i lay on my left side. My port is also trying to come back through the SKIN! it has turned an awful red and is definatly a killer at night and during the day. I am not going back to my original surgeon as we have a bariatric surgeon now where I work and he is more than willing to help me out and just seems so caring and passionate about the bariatrics. My question is, have you had it removed? and if so how was it? and does any of the symptoms i just mention match the ones you have had? I think it's just a shame....iv'e had the band for almost 4 yrs and all i have to show for it is a 20lb weight loss :(

I just had my band removed on the 11th of Feb.  I am still recovering.  The hardest part is gaining my strength.  I had zero restriction and started to gain my weight back.  I also had the pain in my back kinda behind my shoulder blade.  I went to Dr., chiropractor and physical therapy trying get relief.

That pain is gone and it feel good to have it relieved. I did get the RnY done and so far so good.  It is really different than the recovery from the band.  I am still on soft foods.  I have lost 22 lbs. today.
I am praying this works.  My story mirrors yours.  Good Luck and Let me know how things go.

Hi,
I was a screaming success for a while - the hospital doing the surgery even put my story on their website to advertise.  Then I developed very serious symptoms and found that I had an erosion into my stomach.  They removed the band, but I had no end of complications - three abscesses, 9 months of a wound vac, numerous infections, even a week with a chest tube!  My health is shot, the weight is back, and I still am paying off bills!

I wish I'd never listened to them!  I'm so discouraged!  I truly know exactly how you feel!

I had my band removed 11/27/09 after having it for 3 years. Lost 60 lbs. (wanted to lose 40 more, never did)  I had no real issues until I gained 30 pounds in around 5 months, went to have a fill...nothing would go in or out (after they stabbed me numerous times) doc said flouro showed a possible erosion.  An additional doc thought the same, so, had a endo, turns out...no erosion, had it removed and had VSG at the same time.  Best decision I ever made.  I had constant port pain.  My port was embedded...since its been out, no pain whatsoever in that area. I'm glad not to have the sliming, things don't get stuck anymore, and I can eat whatever I want just very little. Had I known about this in the first place NEVER would have gotten the band.
