New and Confused

Hi,

I'm having a little trouble figuring out the navigation around here (I have similar problems with my backyard some days...) so I'm not sure if this is the right place or not. Well, hopefully, it is, so here goes.

I had a RNY in 1/03. The surgery went well and I didn't have any problems with the surgery itself. Unfortunately, the anesthesia set off a pretty severe depression (my doctor's theory, anyway) and I had to start on anti-depressents. Nothing like taking meds that make you hungry to counteract surgery to keep you from being hungry - needless to say, this did not go well.

I regained a good bit of the weight I'd lost. About 4 years ago now I decided to try low carb (having diet drinks that taste good helps considerably - I literally gag on water so don't yell at me for the diet drinks, 'kay?). I lost 70lbs and managed to stay on it for 2 years but then I started having problems with stress and gradually quit the diet. It took the better part of the next two years to regain it all, for what little that is worth. I'm back to where I started from and I'm pretty discouraged at the moment.

I'm curious about the possibility of trying surgery again. I am just really not sure what to do right now - I just want to lose the weight.

Well, that probably sounds a lot more depressing than I meant it to be.

I'm going to suggest you check out the DS forum. Sounds like a revision to the DS could really help you. (Copy and paste this---I can't seem to make a link 'hot'.)

Thanks, I'll try that. I couldn't find anything about revising a RNY to a DS.

The editors are a little stiff here - C&P keep giving me trouble - but I can get there from the link you gave - thanks again!

I had lost about 300 pounds until fate and life dealt me a pretty sucky hand in the last three years.  Now I trying to lose that 60 pounds that I had put back on.   I say , let's all join our resources and fight back.

None of the surgery will work if you don't stick to the low carb diet afterwards. It is part of the way this works High protien low carb. So if this works for you without further surgery then try to return to the plan.
