Revised RNY Gastroplasty
I think the cloest DS surgeon is in Atlanta. Medicare DOES cover the DS, and I *think* that if Medicaid is your secondary, they HAVE to cover anything that your primary---Medicare---covers.
I traveled about three hours from home to have my DS, and believe me, it was worth it. I do all my follow-up care with my local PCP, who orders labs, etc., and faxes copies to my surgeon.

Malnutrition isn't any bigger an issue with the DS than with the RNY, as long as you take your supplements and get regular lab work. We just malabsorb different things, and take different supplements.
I've had ZERO side effects that *can't* be controlled by diet. Sometimes it's worth having the farts to eat something really good, y'know? (*grin*) I just schedule anything that I know will make me gassy for later in the day so I'm home before it's fart time.
Not only have I not gained any weight back, I'm still losing, V-E-R-Y slowly---I weigh about 5 pounds less right now than I did this time last year.
