I just don't know which one to get.  I thought I had done my homework 2 years ago when I went with the band.  NOT!  It worked for me the first 6 months then the problems started and have not stopped yet.  Long story short, I lost 75 pounds that first year with alot of hard work and throwing up daily. Uggg!  Only to gain it all back the second year when I had to be unfilled.  Went back and forth with slight fill, unfill for 8 months to finally say, eff it.  Leave me unfilled.  Needless to say, I am right back where I started at  2 years ago.  I hate my band and can not wait to get it out.  I wasted 15 grand of my own hard earned money for that band that does not work for me!!!!  But where do I go from here?  I need another surgery !  Just not sure which one... Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

ETA:  I am not a band basher.  I know it works for some people.  If just did not work for me.  And yes, I did what I was supposed to do.  I followed the band rules.  My band just did not like me! LOL

Hi,

Sorry you are having such a tough time.  There are many factors that can cause a procedure to fail.  Sometimes it is the actual procedure and sometimes not.  Yes, I have a suggestion.  It is a surgery that is very successful and almost impossible to sabatage.  Go to http://clos.net and click on "start here" on the left side.  The ultimate choice is yours of course.  Good luck on your quest.

Oh my gosh... MGB?  No way, I could never suggest that procedure for anyone.

The choices I make or you make or anyone makes isn't for everyone.  That is why we have so many choices.  However, the choice is an individual one.   We can't make that decision for someone else. All we can do is provide the choices.

I never claimed otherwise.  But when I am asked for an opinion I would never suggest MGB.  99.9% of surgeons stopped doing it in the 70s for a reason.

When I had to have my band removed, my doctor suggested the sleeve if I ever got to a point where I was healed enough to have another form of WLS.

I see a lot of success stories with it, but I haven't gotten one, myself. (Too much damage to my diaphragm from an incorrectly placed lapband.)

Best of luck to you. I understand your frustration!

Be sure to research the duodenal switch.  It provides the best weight loss of all the weight loss surgeries, with an unbeatable post op eating style.  come to the DS forum here on OH and ask for former bandsters to post their experience.

I am so glad to finally find someone that will admit that its a flop. People again, want to blame the patient.
I lost like 45 lbs and its creeping back, i have lost teeth in the back.  I have reached out and people made me feel bad. Like its just a tool its just a tool. Well yes it is and it is not working.  Im so frustrated.
I just want it out and try the GBypass. I was scared of it but I am desperate now.
I love how I get my band and my doctor just disappears. Her name is still on here too. stinks.

The band is indeed a flop!

You know, after 40 years of trying various bands you'd think they would finally yell "uncle" and give up.  First they had the mesh band in the 70s, that didn't work.  Then they had the non adjustable band, that didn't work.  Then they had the small adjustable band, that didn't work.  Now they have the mega adjustable band and that isn't proving to be any better.  Heck, many can't even get restriction it's so big.

It's time to let the band go away and RIP.

Dear Diamond,
I'm right in the thick of my second slip with my LapBandnand my surgeon is recommending the sleeve as the most effective and lesser complications than others.  Waiting for insurance to see if they will cover, but probably won't.  Have you asked your surgeon yet?  Good luck with your decision!
