No ds, just a revision of the original surgery

I too am curious. Adding the DS would be the safest procedure, at this point---re-sleeving can be very dangerous as the stomach tissue that remains is rather fragile.

Yentil - I'm a bit confused by your post - you've already had the VSG which is not reversible
considering you have had part of your stomach surgically removed.

VSG is phase one of a two stage procedure, stage two being DS which you say you're not getting.

Hmmm... what are ya doing??!?!?   I'm still pre-op (VSG) just curious what your "revision" will consist of.

Just curious... CJ

I had the VSG 2 years ago on Jan 31,08. In my first year I lost 150 pounds. My second year of having the I gain 25 pounds. I tried to get the RNY approve for 6 months. They said it was not a medical necessary. In Nov 09 I met with a DS Doctor. I got approve for the DS on Christmas Eve. My surgery March 24,10. I'm not sure if she going to re-sleeve me or not. I hope she will re-sleeve me so it can be smaller again.

On the journey to losing weight, your friends & family will be the first people to try to knock you off. They do this not out spite, but out of being convicted and knowing they should do the same. It's easier to put someone down for doing the right thing, than for them to actually do it. So at your next family re-union or wherever you are eat your chicken and broccoli and smile when they make jokes about you, they are jealous!

There would be no reason to "re-sleve" you if you are having a DS.  And making your stomach smaller is not the answer in the long run.  Neither is having a DS.

You can defeat ANY form of weight loss surgery.  YOU, and you alone have to develop the capability to manage yourself for the rest of your life.  If you overeat, eat the wrong foods consistently, refuse to exercise regularly, then NO surgery will work for you.

It is up to YOU to develop the self discipline necessary to maintain weight loss.

There is no such a thing as a magical answer.  Tons of people with the VSG, the DS, the RnY, the Band, regain a significant amount of weight, simply because they refuse to stay on a lifetime program.

YOU are in control of whatever YOU do.  Nobody forces you to eat improperly.  No one forces you not to exercise.

Surgery is NOT the answer if you refuse to do YOUR part.

You get out of any weight loss surgery, what YOU put into it.  They all CAN work, some just make it easier than others do.  You have already had one of the easiest for patients to lose weight with

If I were you, before I had any more cutting done, I would work on why YOU didn't let this work for YOU!

You don't know what I have been through.
I don't eat much (maybe sometime I may overeat but I don't do a lot.)
I feel hungry all the time even hour later I eat anything.
 I had a personal trainer.
I can't work out anymore more since I have bad back pains all the time since the weight loss.
 I love to work out.
I wish I never had the VSG.
Somedays I wish I had the RNY 2 years then I would not be doing surgery again.
But I'm GLAD I'm getting the DS. I think its a better surgery out there.

My Doctor thought it would be a good idea to do the VSG first since I was 500 pounds and I was 19 years old when I had my first surgery. Then after 100 pounds we was going to do the RNY. We never got the RNY approve. We tried for 6 months to get the RNY they said it was not a medical necessary but I was 374 pounds. I fax papers in to Anthem for the DS I got approve within 2 weeks. I wish I knew about the DS 3 years ago when I first started trying to get surgery. My DS surgery on 03/24/10 and that my 22 birthday.

Please ignore the Ancient Anus - he's as crazy as a loon and is always looking for people to trash.  You have totally worked your tool, and your tool has failed you!

That said - the DS totally rocks, and I'm excited for you!!!  Happy 22th Birthday indeed!!!!!
