I had my surgery Oct 2008 and almost a year and 3 months later and I cannot lose weight.  I originally lost 20 lbs but put 10 back on.  I have had several adjustments one too tight and I had to have some saline taken out but nothing works.  A lot of food makes me regurgitate so I know I do not need tightened but no matter what I do I cannot lose and I think my diabetes is back because I have not lost.  Any suggestions?

I was banned 11/04. I really started losing weight last year. Ilost over 100 lbs. My problem was that I would never let the band work for me. My weight lost started in October of 08 when my wonderful Dr. refused to remove the saline from my band. We had been down that road many times. I left his office mad. Ok, I'll just go home and die. Well I was pbing everything even water. But when I listened to my band, I realized that my band loosened during mid-afternoon to dinner. It loosed, just enough for me to have a good meal. Then I would be tight again, but satisfied. I just worked with my band. I started loosing so much weight that I thought that I had cancer.  Went to another doctor, had blood work done and physical, no cancer.

I eat whatever I want, my band doesn't allow me to eat ALL that I want. I had to get used to the pbing. I always know where the bathroom is whenever I eat out. My co-workers know that sometimes my food doesn't go down and that I have to get up and go to the bathroom.

I started at 287 and today, I weight 181. I fought my band all the way until my doctor said, "NO!".

Hope this helps,

Debra

My band will be 3 yrs. old in april. I too lost  20 lbs, and regained 10. My band is almost filled, some days I can eat and eat, with no restriction, the there are times  I spend most of my time  with my heat in the toliet bowl. I still can't eat meat unless it in handburg and is crumbs, most veg. will come back up. things that your not to have sweets, puddings ,any thing that will slide or to to musch stays down. Right now , I've given up my dr. refer to me as his problem child, and has no ideal as to what to do. I quite going to support group, they couldn't help either.I need help, what is will power, my the end of the day its gone. Is there help for me and and others who had the problems.

I was banded in 2004 and it's been a battle ever since. I only lose weight if I'm so tight that I PB all the time. How can that be good? Maybe I should see another LB doctor's practice for more extensive support and treatment? Should I go whole-hog and get gastric bypass? I don't know what to do...

I had my realize band done in Aug of 08 and some complications and lost 40 pretty quickly but last year 2009, I have plateaud and lost about 15-18 pounds all year.  I seem to have some luck when I go back to doing a lot of protein drinks and keeping a food diary.  I also just joined site called calorieking.com which I hope will allow me to track calories.  Lasly, I am finally measuring food which I never did before.  Maybe this will all work.
My complications involved a surgical infection which required removal of the port surgically and then reinserting it in January of 2009.  My big loss was from recovering from the infection, not so much because of the band.  Good luck with your efforts.
