I had my Lap Band on the 9th of Nov.  and was losing good on the liquid diet.  But when I have started the solids I have been gaining weight about a 1/2 a pound a night.  I have been following the diet given by my dr. office and have been increasing my level of exerise.  I have been gaining weight now for over a week.  I am now up 4 pounds.  I feel this is a little more tha****er weight.  Any suggestions or comments?  Thanks a bunch.

If you really are strictly following the diet plan you were given, something is very, very wrong.  I would not be on the "failed weight loss forum", I would be in touch with my doctor asking what the heck is going on.

I would drop a phone call to your surgeon just to touchbase and let him/her know what is happening. He may be able to give you some more pointers. I do not know a lot about the lap band, but if its anything like GBS, you may be hitting a bit of a plateau. Try upping your water intake, and keep on exercising!

I wouldn't worry about it. It is natural for the body to fluctuate a few pounds from day to day. Also, you are probably putting on some muscle. Just keep following your program and you'll be fine.

Anna, don't worry. Its called Bandster's Hell. The time when the swelling and initial surgery restriction is gone and your first fill. Just continue to follow the plan. Some people don't lose anything between surgery and first fill.

First Fill 1/4/2010 - 4CC in 12CC band * Second Fill 1/12/2010 - 2CC * Unfill 1/13/2010 - 1CC* Third Fill 6/17/2010 - .4CC

Complete unfill - 2/2011

I think you should post on the lap band board and you'll see more responses.  I don't think it's a huge deal just two weeks out to gain a little bit.  The hardest thing to do right now, is to stay off the scale, but you need to.  Your job right now, is to heal from surgery...not to lose weight.  If you have to, have someone hide the scale from you!

Call your doctor or NUT and address a few things:

How much protein are you getting daily and what is recommended.

How much fluids are you drinking (water, sf Popsicles, non-caf beverages, ect) and what is recommended.

You may be losing inches and/or gaining muscle.

How many carbs are you doing?

It just could be a temporary stall also.

All in all, call your doctor and NUT so you can hear for yourself what could be going on.  Good luck.
