Revision Surgery At Kaiser

I had laparscopic gastric bypass surgery in 2005 and lost 100 lbs, down to 230 and now I'm up to 268. I can eat as much as I used to before surgery - my pouch is al stretched out - I'm on a fast course in the wrong direction! My insurance is Kaiser in Southern California and they had the surgery done at UCLA. Has anyone ever heard of Kaiser authorizing a revision surgery of any kind?

Nope. Kaiser is notorious.

BTW, just because you CAN eat as much as you used to doesn't mean that you SHOULD. That being said, lots of people go on the Back on Track Together board to get support in re-implementing the basic tenets of weight loss to FIGHT REGAIN. Surgery will not fix the food issues in our heads. But by getting back to basics, tracking our intake and being honest about it, exercising, weighing weekly and finding other ways of coping without using food, we can all do it!

38 pounds of regain is not a tragedy. It's a manageable amount to lose by getting BACK ON TRACK! Weigh****chers also has a good program. I urge you to check these options out--they really work!

Kaiser in Oregon is very different than SoCal.  California has an independent Medical Review Board and can force Kaiser to do many surgeries that they normally do not perform. Contact Diana Cox.  She may have an answer for you.

Diana is an attorney that does pro-bono work for people that are being denied WLS.  She usually hangs out on the duodenal switch board. Put her name in the title and write a clear concise message for her.  Or you could PM her.  Here's the link: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/DS/

I hope she can help you.
