not losing, feels like I never had surgery

How much food are you able to eat at once?  I am 9 months post op-my total weight loss is 59 lbs and I am working out on my own and with a trainer 2 xs per week.  The thing is, since about July, I have not felt like I have any restriction my stomach.  In the first few months after surgery, if I had a mouthful of food too much, I was sick to my stomach and it felt like my entire body was clamping down like a vice grip.  Then, that stopped.  Eating bread, pasta, and other heavy food was so uncomfortable I couldn't stand it.  That stopped, too.   I could not eat and drink at the same time, because I would feel as though I was going to throw up.  That does not happen anymore, either. I can literally anything and everything with no sick feeling.  I feel hungry (I actually get hunger pains; I know when my stomach is empty).  Last night, I had three slices of Sicilian pizza.  I actually ate them just too see how much I could eat at one time.  The calorie plan the nutritionist says I should be following for the rest of my life just leaves my feeling hungry and unsatisfied.

I have stopped going to support group meetings b/c I cannot bear to be in a room with so many people who have been successful in their weight loss and here I am, freaking out because I don't feel like I had surgery at all.  Is this supposed to happen?  I did not think that a restriction would be a temporary thing, but it feel like my body went right back to how it was b/f surgery.

When you eat high protein, dense protein like steak, chicken etc, how much can you eat?  I will tell you this being 2 years out I CAN eat more but MOST meals I CHOOSE not to why?  Cause that would truly defeat my having surgery.  Some meals I have more but mainly I try to stick to about 4-6oz of meat 1/2 cup vegetable and maybe 1/4 cup of starch.

Now regarding the starch thing well I can eat WAY more carbs then I can protein EASY.  Again it's my CHOICE not to.  I will lastly say that when I do eat more carbs I am HUNGRY like a mad b*tch and will so anything.

Why not STOP doing the things like eating so many carbs, TESTING how much you can eat, drinking with meals, etc.

What is the calorie plan you are on?  I average a good 1200 calories a day, give or take.

stop drinking with and right after your meals and go back to protien first.  You did this surgery to help - it won't do it alone you have to do your part.

Hey Daisy love...keeping in the FIGHT is a good thing!  I eat on average about 1500 calories a day or smaller especially since I'm not working out right now.  I eat about every 3 hours as well.  Before surgery I heard it helped with your metabolism so hey why not.  Right now I'm healing from Plastic surgery and my doctor has this protein shake stuff that I drink 2 times a day.  I burnt what I was cooking for lunch this week so it's just be strange.  I had the VSG and am rarely hungry so I'm taking a little advantage of this but trying to get in a good amount of protein.

Yesterday went like this.

On my way to work 6-630 I drank my protein shake.  Once I get to work about 730 I drink some coffee.  Around 930 I had a boiled egg and a pack of instant low sugar maple & brown sugar oatmeal.  At 1200 I had a small salad; at 300 I had another shake; at 6 I ate a leg & thigh from popeyes chicken (I do every Tuesday) and I ate a chicken salad sandwich before bed.

I just want to say you inspire me in your strength to make your life work inspite of your situation.

Daisy - I'm over 2 years out and struggle to reach a day of 1300 calories with working out...  Probably why I continue to lose weight.   What I would suggest is that you break the meals up into more small meals and be sure not to drin****il 30 minutes + after you finish eating.   Also, try eating things that are high in fiber as it may assist you with staying full longer - eat leafy veggies (like salads) to give you bulk without adding calories.  And, if you snack more often, snack on things like cucumbers so you get the satisfaction of eating, but not increasing your calories.

I'm 5'1", and can relate to being smaller...   Just my two cents worth and good luck!

25 mm Stoma? My Dr. says when he creates one it's only 5 mm. He says he does this because it will eventually stretch.

He said when that when Dr's in the past did surgery, they left it to big and then it eventually stretched to even a larger size. I asked him why would they do that and he said because a lot of Dr's. didn't take the time or have the skillset to suture it so small.

My friend who had gastric bypass 10 years ago swears this is what happen to him. He lost weight, but whew! He blew right back up again. He thinks the Dr. made his opening too big.

So now, he has none of the benefits of the tool, but all the negatives. By that I mean he doesn't take his vitamins, or ever eats properly or exercises.
