Anyone have the ROSE procedure???

Hello!

I had the RNY in May of 2002. The first year post op I lost 150 pounds. I have managed to gain 100 lbs of my weight back! I am so disgusted with myself. I can eat like I never had the surgery and I rarely get sick anymore. I drink soda, eat sugar and it rarely bothers me! I am considering looking into having the ROSE procedure, and am curious to hear from anyone who has had it and what your outcome was from it. If it does or doesn't work! Any input would be appreciated!!! Thanks!!!

The rose procedure is basically like the stomaphyx except they suture you pouch in a circle to make it smaller again. The surgery is non invasive and is performed going through your throat. If you just look it up on Google you will find some websites that have videos explaining it and showing how it is performed. The only thing is since it is a new procedure, no insurances will cover it. It is all out of pocket and I was told it costs around $15,000. So I have decided to go back to liquids for 2 weeks and shrink my pouch back then eat only protein for another 2 weeks. Hopefully that will cure this constant hunger I have been dealing with!
Best of Luck!

Why not go for a DS?

After gaining back 50 lbs of the original 115 lbs I had lost with my RNY, I had a lap-band placed over my bypass in May 2009.  I have since lost 50+ lbs and have hit my goal weight.  I am vehemently opposed to the ROSE procedure (I did extensive research...don't waste your money) and suggest you too do some solid research on all of the revision surgeries available to you to determine which one is best for you.

The band-over-bypass was the surgery that meshed best with me and my lifestyle and my goals.  It was a great decision for me and I am thrilled with the results!

Any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask! :)

I had the Rose procedure 4 months ago and it is working for me.I have taken off 50lbs so far. You do have to go back to the orginial way that you were eating with the gastric bypass. I was eating wrong, drinking soda and not exercising. Now I eat rignt, get my protien first, exercise 30 minutes every day and am making the rose proceduer work for me. You have to remember that the rose procedure is a tool and you have to work with the tool to help it to work for you. It is not easy and I have just simply went back to the way of eating that  when I had my orginal surgery. My surgeon (Dr Bass)  told me that it will  only be as good as you make it. For it t work you have to follow the plan. I have realized that I an never go back to the soda and the chips. I hope this helps and good luck to you.

Is the Rose procedure still working for you?

I was also the first person that Insurance approved for Rose procedure. If you have the right Dr. it could possibly be approved. I am very happy with my procedure.
