I know what I do wrong and can't seem to correct it.

I eat with in my alloted calories everyday. But at night... OH THAT NIGHT!!!!! in the middle of the night I eat, eat, eat. I think that I am a binge eater in the middle of the night. I have never considered myself a binge eater. I wake up in the morning and want to just die...Oh what I have I done again??? But I can't seem to quit. I have always, for as long as I can remember eat in the middle of the night. But it is usually like a cracker, something to take away my hunger. Now it is way out of hand. How do I stop this.

Thanks, Pam

Get focused. It's all mind over matter. If you must eat in the middle of the night try to eat something like a piece of fruit. Once you starting picking up weight I'm sure you will get back to the basics.

Hi,

There are so many different things that can cause this.  You may want to visit someone who works with eating disorders and eating issues.  There are many different strategies that you can use to combat this.  Here is a link for you to begin with. http://www.crchealth.com/

You might also want to talk with a nutritionist if you haven't done so.  They can give you some ideas as well.  It seems that a little more support is needed.

I hope this helps.

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

Have you tried to eat protein at night?  Pre-op I ate during the night and I noticed that if I ate protein later then I would not wake up in the middle of night  hungry.  I have not had this problem post-op but I am eating more protein and less carbs now just a suggestion.

try tylenol PM, see if it gets you to sleep through the night.  What wakes you up, is it hunger?  Do you drink alcohol at all, sometimes that will interrupt sleep as well.  Good Luck, I've faced that monster myself.

Hi Pam!

There is a eating disorder called night eating syndrome.  I don't know much about it, but you could research it and see if you fit the criteria.  I am also not sure what they are treating it with.

HOLY COW!!!! I really need to get on my computer more often. Thank you all for your great advice. I am so sorry for not responding any sooner. I just have not been on my computer.

So this looks so interesting.... I am talking about Night Eating Syndrome. This sounds like me. I went and did some research on this and I sound like a classic case. I have had this problem for years and years. So I might have some depression???? Some nights I sleep all through but most every night I  wake up. I am going to talk to my doctor and see if maybe I can see someone that knows about this and hopefully get some help.

Again,, thanks

Pam

I find having a list of acceptable after 7pm food to be my answer. If I am hungry I start with a protein shake. Usually, that is enough, if I need more I drink water. If I want to chew I chew SF gum. It is best not to eat at all if you can.
