Hello All,

Has anyone every "ROSE" Procedure? I was told what they do is they put several stitches in your pouch and gather it like a rose to tight it back up and they stitch bottom which leads to your intestines. I guest this is something new and there is not a lot out there on it.

Hi,

Whoa!  That sounds scary. I would definitely research the statistics on long range results and risks.  New stuff needs to be proven and have a track record so we can measure how successful they are.  I know alot of medical folks focus on the pouch.  This concerns me in a way because, through my research, I have learned that absorption is the key.  We don't absorb our calories through the pouch but through the small intestines.  Therefore, the amount bypassed would affect how many calories we absorb.

There are alot of mechanical workings in all the procedures that produce varying results and I don't feel qualified to say much more than that.  I can only go by what I read.  I don't know if I helped much but regardless, do the research and see what you find out.  I'd like to know myself.

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

I will share what I find out.  From what I read I don't think this is for me.  I am fine like I am just will increase my serving size and calories intake.

It has been around for at least a couple of years. I checked it out in '07 when I was researching doing something for my failed GB. There were not too many stats on it, but what I did read was not very positive. I decided to get a revision to the duodenal switch instead and couldn't be happier. I eat like a normal person, have a regular functioning stomach, a bit smaller than the normie, no dumping, no chewing food to mu**** freaks my mind why the DS is not so widely known about, why more docs don't do it; it is far superior to the GB.

I have heard about a similar operation where they go down your throat and stich up the pouch to make it smaller.  I have been told that insurance does not cover this procedure.

The surgery really does not work well at all.  The only people rooting for it are those trying to sell you a surgery.  Stats are very poor.
