I know how you feel.  I had Lap-Band surgery back in 2006.  I too threw up all the time for several years.  Unfortunatley the restriction of the band doesn't sit with everyones body well.  But you just had surgery 2 days ago- so you should only be on liquids, I hope you are not trying to eat solid foods!  Give it a little more time, this can be a great tool for a lot of people.  Insurance will not cover a removal unless it is deemed medically necessary.  I just had mine removed in April and converted to RNY- best thing I ever did.

I'm only on liquid and can't seem to keep it down. Although, today so far so good. I had a few sips of water and few licks of a s/free popsicle. It hurts when I swallow.

I'm feeling weak.

Please call your doctor!  I'm suprised they let you leave the hospital if you couldn't keep liquids down.  Less than 24 hours after my surgery I couldn't keep anything down and my surgeon had to go back in and remove the band cause it was placed too tight.  I'm not saying this is your issue; it could be something really simply.  But please get the professional opinion of your surgeon!

Unfortunatly you are too quick.  You don't think.  Are you going to go with your hunger too and eat like a lunatic.  You've had weight loss surgery calm down.  First you want your band out immediately post-op, now you are feeling better and still not satisfied.   Maybe, just maybe you want to sabotage the whole thing and stay super morbidly obese.  What would have happened had you gotten a non-reversable surgery?  The Lap Band can mess your stomach up pretty bad if you do not LISTEN, FOLLOW RULES, TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!!!!

Good Luck

The band SHOULD NOT be filled so soon after surgery. That's ridiculous. You're still healing from major surgery. Your body needs a chance to adjust. I hope that your doctor wasn't so foolish as to actually put saline in your band immediately after your surgery?

I had major problems with my lapband. I almost died from complications (due to my surgeon not doing the surgery correctly and then ignoring my chronic pain afterward.) Thankfully, I found a specialist who was more than happy  to help me and attempt to correct the first doctor's horrible mistakes. (It didn't work, but at least he TRIED.)

If your pain and discomfort continue, don't wait to get a second opinion if your surgeon discounts your complaints. I have diaphragmatic damage and I had my surgery in 2003. I had the band removed in 2005. I STILL have pain occasionally from the damage and I have no other WLS options, I am so damaged. Don't let anyone tell you that the lapband is a "less dangerous" surgery than the Duodenal Switch, RnY or sleeve. They all have possibility for failure.

Good luck and I really hope you're doing much better at this point. Feel free to contact me.

Did you call your Drs. office: Are you resting., you just had surgery. your insides are swollen and they need to go back to their regular size.  You need to rest and then rest some more. Your hormones are acting up. After any surgery your body is tired and the way you think or act is out of the norm.  Remember the rules of the pouch, sip sip sip and then sip again. Do not rush this its only beena couple of days.  What are your trying to keep down. If you can drink then suck on ice cukes.  Be sure to call the Drs. office and dont let theme  put you off. Get answers. They probabley gave you instructions before surgery go over them again.

VSG on 08/26/08 with
My sister had to have her band removed 5 months after it was placed because she could not even ge****er down at that point (swelling of the stomach around it).

I had the VSG 2 months after she had her band placed. I have never thrown up since my surgery and am at goal now. If the band does not work out, I would weigh my other options. Please call your doctor though... this doesn't sound good.

Now why wouldn't you have just called your surgeon?  This sounds incredibly stupid to post on a board when you've just had surgery and are experiencing "an emergency".  Are you a troll?  What a joke.  Your sutures wouldn't even be settled and you'd surely slip your band or worse if you keep puking.  Has your band been filled/primed before hand - if your situation is true?  Do you have a too tight band - if true?  This just seems so damned silly.

It is now August 6th and I sure hope you found a solution - if this is true.
