I'm going to keep an eye on this topic. I am in the same boat, I got down to 200 and am back up to 266 right now.

It's an awful feeling.

Hi, Katrina, I see you're in KY too.  Go see Dr. John Husted in Somerset and ask about a revision to the duodenal switch.  Have you heard of it?

I LOVE Dr. Husted. He's great. I went to a seminar last month and he's super. I don't have insurance right now but once I get it he will be the man I see.

Since Dr. Husted has moved to KY DS is finally starting to get popular on the Kentucky forum. I spread the word as often as possible.

EXCELLENT, I am so, so happy to hear it.  I am so thrilled someone of Dr. Husted's calibre has come to KY to spread the word of the platinum standard in WLS!

There is a great forum here called Back On Track Together.  This forum helps you get a restart in your eating and activity levels.  Try that and see if that helps get yourself on the road again.  Do a search on that forum above.

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

Don't beat yourself up. We all go up and down in our weight. Just try to change your eating habits again. I had gained 30lbs back. I had my surgery 4/05. This February I toke a look in the mirror and said I must do something about this. Todate I'm down 31 lbs. It toke me 4 months to lose it but hey it's off. I never made it to my goal weight of 160.  The smallest I got down to after the surgery was 190 which is where I am at now but hey that's a long way away from 287. One day I will get to my goal weight. At least you had a reason you gained the weight I didn't. If you need a friend to talk to do hesitate to contact me. Keep ur head up.

Hello Anjail,

I'm in the same boat.  Started out at 290.  My goal was 160....only made it to 184.  Now I have gained back 30 pounds.  Can you tell me how you got started and lost 31 pounds?  Thank you!

Hey Anjail, my name is Greta Davis and I would like to know how you lost your weight after gaining some back.  I myself, had the RNY-Gastric Bypass on November 9th, 2001.  I went into the hospital weighing almost 300lbs.  Since then the lowest that I have gotten to was 170lbs, which for me was great!  My bone structure is heavy, so I did not expect to get down to 140-150 like my dr. had told me.  But it is now July 22, 2009 and I am now 215lbs!  I can really tell it in the way that my clothes fit me as well as what the scale says.  How did you loose your weight?  I am going to throw out everything in my refrigerator and food cabinets this weekend and I am going to do a fruit and veggie detox along with some kind of exercise.  My stomach has stretched out and I think that I need a revision if that is possible.  I want to go back to eating only 4-6oz of food a meal.  Now, I can eat about twice that amount and I can eat just about anything that I want!  I eat refined sugars, fast food, breads, etc.  My body can take the same things that I used to eat before the surgery.  I am hoping to get some insurance with my new job in a few months and I then am going to go back to my surgeon( Dr. Macik, Atlanta, GA) to see if he can refine my stomach or give me suggestions as to what I need to do to loose this weight that is trying to come back on me.  I am not going to say that the surgery failed, because it didn't.  I am the one that failed when it came to making a promise of no more emotional eating.  That is so hard to break!  Anyway, enough about my situation.  I would like to know how you lost your weight and how you are keeping it off.  Take care and anyone can respond to me.  Thank you.

Hi Jessie!  I am so sorry about the weight gain....I know that must be very discouraging.  If you are considering a revision, I would encourage you to learn about the duodenal switch.  You have the largest weight loss and highest chance of keeping off the weight with this surgery.  It is similar to the RNY in that it is restrictive and malabsorptive.  You will have a fully functioning stomach with a pyloric valve (your stomach will just be smaller) and the intestines are rerouted so that you only absorb about 20% of your fat intake and 40% to 50% of protein and complex carbohydrates--you still absorb 100% of simple carbs--sugars--so you have to really watch that.

Check out http://www.dsfacts.com for more information and/or the message board right here on OH.  I had my DS done 3 months ago and am very happy with the progress I"m making.  The first couple of months were tough, but it is getting better and better each day.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do...oh!  Congrats on your baby!! :)
