I am so mad and disgusted at myself.  I never really lost a ton of weight like I thought I would,  I lost 100lbs.  I guess thats good but I still weigh 265 and I really want to lose more, it doesn't even have to be another 100, 50 or 65 will do.  My question is about revision I am embarassed to go to my surgeon who did the original because I am so embarassed with myself, so do u go to the original or do u look for another surgeon?

Hi!  First, I think you really have to let go of the anger and disgust.  You LOST 100 pounds!! That is fantastic!  Go back to your original surgeon and talk to him.  You have nothing to be embarassed about, as you LOST 100 pounds!

With that said, are you still writing down everything you eat?  Are you getting your protein in?  Have you tried changing up your exercise routine?  Have you tried talking to a nutrionist?

You aren't a failure by any stretch of the imagination.  I know about failure.  I have lost and gained and lost and gained, and now am bigger than I was before surgery.

Hug yourself and be proud of your accomplishment thus far!

I second that! You are not a failure! I have gotten so off track and "forgot" the rules for my Pouch/tool over time! I have regained 126 # originially lost around 200#s and never got below 250 !
As a result of not losing  more initially I never really felt successfull in weight loss terms...BUT NOW here I am on teh road to my pre-op weight!
THIS is a failure....Here is what I ahve done, revisite dmy original surgeon, he directed me to Gastroenterology and Dr. Kozarek in seattle, TOMORROW i go for my non-surgical stome revision SCLEROTHERAPY which he has been doing for decades according to him!
I am very motivated and excited to hopefully start losing and not BLOW my 2nd chance!
Tje previous response post was right on the money go see youir doc do not feel embarrased and he may suggest you look into a revision that may not require surgery. For whaever reason a stoma can enlarge and teh "tool " does not work as well as initially.
My major challenges, I like a drink, Bubblee and some brews, also NOT WAITING TO DRINK AFTER MEALLS I have literally been washing my meals out and get hungary inside 30 minutes for over three years ! THIS = Failure for me!
JR in seattle GOOD LUCK!

i am having surgery in 2 weeks but my friend lost 100 and needs to do 85 more.  she went to her dr and got the liquid diet to help her kick start her program again.  I thought it was helpful to know.
it is hard to lose weight and you have done so much already.  give yourself a happy face for a great job.  I am going to use the plan called "the glycemic Index Diet". or the GI diet. a  low carb lfestyle plan and so heart healthy.  keeps hunger down.   I start the liquid diet tomorrow and i am kind of overwhelmed with the starting of this process... i will be on it for 30 days. 2 weeks before and 2 after.  then add in foods slowly.  that is the plan.

good luck betty xoxo

Hi,

It is amazing, well, not really, that surgeons don't take the time to research why so many people are not succeeding.  They want to blame the patient.  Sometimes we do get off track and go back to our old habits, but sometimes, the surgery isn't  robust enough.  That isn't exactly the word, but it doesn't take alot of research to understand that bypassing more of the small intestines is going to affect the amount of calories absorbed.  If they bypassed feet instead of inches, the results would be staggering!

Anyway, I agree, go talk to your doctor again.  I am rooting for ya!

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.
