I give up.

I am six months out and down 61 pounds.  I fight for every single pound.  I do everything I am supposed to be doing and I have tweaked things trying to get weightloss moving to no avail.  My surgeon is upset with me and I have a 6 month appt in 2 weeks that I know will end up in some sort of lecture.  I know everyone says dont compare yourself to others but come on...people are wizzing past me almost losing double what I am.  I love OH but it upsets me everytime I visit and I just can't continue to beat myself up anymore.

I am 6 yrs out... I know/ feel/ felt what you are saying.. My loss at one yr was 70 lbs.. I did everything by the book, asked questions and educated myself in every way I ccould think of..I dreaded my 6 month check up, I knew what was coming.. seems at that point my dr. gave up on me like it was my fault... I have since found another wls doctor to do my yrly and labs...I went on to gain 33 lbs back last yr after an accident; But I still have the tool that was given me and ....today ... I will not give up. Please hang in there... message me when you feel like you are at the end of your rope... and remember.. tie a knot in it and hang on...

I feel your pain.  I too am  not losing nearly as fast as everyone else seems to be.  I've really tried to stay positive and focused on my own successes and not compare myself to others.  It is SO hard though.. I hear what you're saying.

I tell myself every single day that I am doing the best I can do.  For whatever reason, my body wants to hold on to the weight and I'm losing much more slowly.  My favorite saying of late, in no way related to the wls, is... "It is what it is".  I"ve adopted that for my wls as well lately.  It is what it is.  I can be depressed about it or accept it and move forward and continue to work at losing.  I've chosen the latter... wanna join me?  We CAN do this!

I had gastric by pass in January 2008 and lost 90 pounds the first 6 months.  now 11 months later, I am down 92 (wow)  I am very depressed by this.  I am 61 years old, but surgeon says my age doesnt have anything to do with it.  I try to do everything write.  I workout 3-4 times a week at a center.  what am I doing wrong--any help would be appreciated.

WL surgeons and their nutritionists can be as bad as pcp's are pre op.  They are either ill prepared or unwilling to deal with the exception to the rule.  They reject out right that one can stick with the program and not loose weight as expected instead of adressing the needs of the individual.

I am very frustrated with my lack of progesss and back sliding.  My 'team' has been of no help resolving my metabolic issues.  I'm on my own for a solution.

you know what at 6 months i was only about 60 pounds as well, i am now 18 months post op and only down 78.  Some of us just arent as successful as others. SERIOUSLY! and if you look at the statistics with this surgery you are considered a success if you've lost 60% of your excess weight, NO we're not happy that we havent lost ALL our excess weight yet, but as they say now the fun begins.

I am in the gym now 4-5 days a week doing cardio AND hired a personal trainer for 3x a week and still my results.....1 pound a week big deal! Yes its so disheartening to come here time and time again and read all about folks big #'s and this and that, but somehow you gotta keep pressing towards YOUR goal not theres. you are not them and vice versa. Your journey is YOUR journey and you must walk on your own road the way you choose to walk.  If you dont choose to excersize or stay away from crackers or carbs then you will have alot of stones on your path, but if you can push past the nonsenseness of the scale and the constant comparison with others then failure is your chosen path.

I know exactly what your feeling and i empathize, you can do this!

I read your blog and I noticed that you don't eat breakfast so (not trying to be harsh here) you are not doing everything that you are supposed to be doing. You should be eating every 5 hours. You have to eat breakfast because it kick starts you metabolism! And I wanted to point out that you are half way to goal! That is awesome! It really really is. You will be in your "honeymoon" faze for another 6-12 months so your weight loss may slow down a bit but you will still continue to lose! You will get there! I don't know if you work out but maybe if you step up your exercise routine a little bit? That might help the weight loss speed up a bit.

Good luck!!

In 3 days I will be 16 months out, and even if my sticker say I'm 141.8, I went up again 144, means 64 pounds in 16 months.  Should I call myself a failure, SORRY I REFUSE TO DO THAT! I'm using size 4, look at my photos, look at me at 208.6 pounds and the tummy that made me use size 18-20.  TIRED OF FIGHTING AFTER ONLY 6 MONTHS AND HALF WAY FROM YOUR GOAL!!  NO, SORRY IS A CAN NOT DO. Sending a lot of love, hugs and keep fighting, you are doing it for yourself noone else

I don't want to lose more weight!!

Thanks everyone.  Sometimes it's just so hard to put all of this into persprctive.  I will try to state the positives and keep on truckin towards my goal.  I have gone from a size 22 to a size 14/16.  It depends on the clothes but I am mostly in 14's.  Yesterday on my evening walk...I actually jogged!  And the best part was I wasn't tired or out of breath!  I felt great!  I have so much energy now that most nights I have a hard time sleeping.  B4 surgery I would sleep all night and take up to 2 naps a day.  I don't have pitting edema anymore and my bloodwork at my 3 mo appt was spot on.  I am really trying to eat in the morning and I have found that if I get up by 5:30 I feel ready to eat a couple of hours later.  My protien is on average 80-100 gr a day and carbs are below 90..  Calories tend to be in the 900-1200 range depending on how busy my day is or hoe close I am to TOM.  TOM throws me off each month and I am ravenous for about 4 days b4 my period arrives.

I will not give up...I have worked too hard.  But I do have my moments and clearly, when I posted my OP I was having one.   Thanks for everything guys.  It really meant so much to me.
