Hi there - I had Lap Band 5 yrs ago...had  slippage a year and half in / now again. Going to have revision surgery. My question is has anyone had a previous heart attack prior to their revision?

Thanks
Stephanie

There are some on the DS board who had heart issues prior to surgery, and have had clearing of their arteries post surgery.

If that could be an issue for you, you should look at the DS. Because you mal-absorb some fat, it not only helps maintain the weight loss, but gives us fabulous blood fat levels, which is quite helpful with the heart.

One of the main reasons I have applied to have a DS is because of early heart disease in my parents.  It might be an option you should check out before you decide on which revision you get.

Hi, I also had band , slipped after one year. Who will be doing your next surgery ? Iam unable to find Dr. to do another surgery, due to the fact I went out of U.S. for first one.

Thanks

I'm not having a revision but had RNY surgry May 1 and had prior heart attack several years earlier. The doctor put in a Greenfield IVC Filter to prevent blood clots and I had to get clearance from my cardiologist and Pulmonary doctor. Everything went fine with the surgery. I have only lost 53 lbs in 3 mos (just had 3 mos follow up yesterday). My cardiologist and diabetes educator and ortho doc are all very pleased with the results thus far. My cholesterol has dropped to a new low of 98 and triglycerides are 97. I have to stay on lipitor for the benefits it gives against heart attacks and strokes, but a small price to pay for better health. I have come off so many meds it is amazing. At one time I was taking about 23 different medications, now down to a handful. Good Luck on your surgery             Linda
