Revision for RNY
HI I have had a RNY 7 years ago and am experiencing lot of abdominal pain and discomfort that the doctors can't figure out.
Has anyone else had this? I will find out on the 4th of June if they will do a open exploratory surgery at this point the Doctors want to do a revision since I have not lost hardly any weight from the first RNY only about 50 pounds.
I am nervous about having a revision but would like to lose more weight since I am still over 200 pounds.
Any suggestions I would love to know if anyone else has had a revision and how it was and how you are fairing.
Thanks
Tbeary

My first thought about your abdominal pain would be a marginal ulcer. Do you take any kind of PPI? (Nexium, Protonix, Priolosec, Aciphex, etc.)
I have had a marginal ulcer for 9 years now and take a 40 mg nexium everyday. Sometimes I have to take two. I try to take 1800 MG of calcium citrate also since PPI can cause osteoporosis.
I'm having my RNY taken down and am revising to a DS due to weight gain, and because of the ulcer. I had a high bmi to start with, lost about 220 lbs and have gained around 90 back.
Depending on what your current BMI is you might want to look into a DS. May I suggest you check out the DS board.
Warmly,
Maddie
