For newbies, those still searching for an answer, here is one idea

I had RnY in April 05, did well for the first 8 months, stalled for a year, and then started regaining. My original bartiatric doc suggested I have a lapband over my RnY, ding dong, so wrong. In searching on this OH site, I found out about the duodenal switch, and finally after two years of waiting, I am hopefully having my surgery on May 19th. I realized that having a lapband over the Rny is putting a bad thing over an already bad thing, for me anyway. So if you do not know what to do in seeking a revision, do check out the DS forum. I did and have never turned back. you are not alone. Many, many Lapbanders and RnYers had their surgery fail them, and they have found a bettter way of life.

First, in case I confuse anyone I don't consider myself a failure.  But, I could not help responding because of how lovingly you posted this.  Sometimes people need a gentle reminder to know they are not alone and just because one thing didn't work doesn't mean they can't succeed.    Way to go! and I hope you have a successful journey with the DS.

Hi Karen,

I'm hoping for you.  I went through a weight gain and battled it for a year.  Many, many people are not alone trying to beat weight regain.

I wish more surgerical centers were able to focus on weight maintenance and not just weight loss.  If I hadn't become a certified coach, i would not have know the strategies and techniques to apply to MYSELF.

Karen, stay motivated!!!!!!!

Much love,
Coach Roz

Hi Roz,

I'm a newbie, just waiting now to see if the surgeon I chose accepts me.  I have done a lot of research, but you are right.  There is a lot more out there about pre-op and the first year post-op than there is about long term maintenance.

What is a Coach and how did you become one?

Can you point me to information about long term maintenance?  I'm planning on having the DS.

I feel great and doing very well. Maybe had a bit much more to eat than I should early out, but I am fine and looking forward to my future..
