It's been almost a year since my band was removed (5/13), and still, til this day, I miss it. I have gained about 15lbs and have been struggling, ever step of the way, to get it down.  I couldn't do it before the band, so am I kidding myself that I will do it now?????????

Hi,

So, why did you have to have it removed?  Have you considered a different procedure?

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

I had unexplained abdominal pain they sent to the ER.  My Gastroenterologist said my endoscopy showed that my pouch was less than 5CC's which caused my food to sit in my esophogus.  My surgeon did not believe it was the band and left the decision up to me. He took it out and told me that I couldn't have it done again because of scar tissue and never discussed any other procedure.

There are some very skilled revision surgeons, even if I'm not sure you'd actually count as a revision at this point.

If you did well with the band, you may also do well with the sleeve.

There are surgeons that have done a full DS on stomachs that have had erosion and other serious issues from bands, as well as being previously cut up from RNY, that they patched back together. Your stomach should be a walk in the park compared to those.

If your actually interested in a revision, you would likely have luck checking with some other surgeons.

You are lucky you had the band instead of RNY or DS those are nearly irreversible.  I don't know why so many people are so discouraged to lose the weight the natural weight it just takes longer and more focus but given that you stick to a changed lifestyle of your own free will it's much better than passively letting a surgeon screw up your insides and hope for the best.

RNY is like giving you the disease of malabsorption no one knows what the long term effects are.  I don't think people will live longer.

If you have your priority straight you can lose weight.  Just your life has to revolve around physical activities and good nutrition without starvation, slow and steady loss will get you there without the horrible side effects and dependency on hospitals, doctors, nurses arrgh!!! FREE WILL BEATS ANY FRANKENSTEIN LIKE BARIATRIC SURGERY FROM HELL.

Actually being from the DS board, your way,  IMHO, is so wrong. I have "dieted", "exercised" and tried to do it that way, and after 40 years of trying diet after diet, I found out 'DIETS DO NOT WORK". Why in heavens name are there so many produc ts and diet aides out there. Give the DS a try. If one takes their vitamins like they should, no malnutrition is realized, and as far as malabsorption, baby , that is the way to keep the weight off. Everyone, and I mean  everyone looking for that something else needs to check out the DS forum. And then tell me about dieting one more time.
