any VSG stories here
Well, it probably depends on how you define failure... for one thing. Also, of the failed VSGers I do know (and I can think of about 4), I've never seen them on this forum. Try revisions... try the DS forum. However, often, people just go away period.
I lost weight for 4 months and haven't lost a single pound in about 6 months now. It seems there are always a group of people who lose 30-50 pounds and then weight loss stops.
For me, I just don't have much restriction...even though I was sleeeved by an experienced surgeon with a 34F bougie. I can still eat a lot of food.... both healthful and unhealthful food.

Lap-Band June 14, 2001. Dr. Rumbaut, Monterrey, Mexico.
Lap-Band removed after 7 years and converted to Sleeve Gastrectomy on July 7, 2008 by Dr. Roslin. I've had three happy healthy Lap-Band babies.... and one VSG baby. 5 years out from revision to VSG. Gained 55 pounds in past 5 months, now considering DS. :(
Unfotunately I am one of the VSG failures. Let me give you a little background. I had a lap band in August '05. I started at 350 lbs and went down to 222 lbs by May of '07. Still had another 60 to lose, but I had fought infection the entire time and it finally had to be removed. I quickly gained back 40 lbs. and the Dr. did a VSG (I was no longer a candidate for a lap band due to scar tissue) in Sept. '07. I had a very difficult recovery, actually thought I might die at one point. I lost about 30 lbs. over the first few months and then started regaining. I am currently back to 310 lbs. and VERY depressed about it :(. It seems like the problem I have with the surgery itself is that I am able to eat past my sleeve with no repercussions. No vomiting, etc. I must admit, I no longer follow the eating rules of the VSG, and pretty much eat what I want. Although I do notice that I cannot eat the same volume as before surgery, I can easily graze all day. I also have days when I am truly hungry. So much for very little grelin! I am currently getting on track with just calorie counting and looking to slowly increase my activity level. I have come back to the boards for some support. I find the main board too hard to deal with, as everyone there seems to be having so much success. Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled for everyone's successes, but I feel like a total failure. After what I have been through, I would not consider another weight loss surgery, so I can only pray that with God's help, I can turn my eating habits around. I wish you the very best!

you ARE NOT a failure, you may have fallen off the track but that does not make you a failure it makes you human..
you have already made a huge step in realizing that you have to make changes and to try and increase your exercise..
why not come back to the vsg board and let all the folk there give you the support you need we are starting a 10,000 step challenge on monday and that might be fun for you to jump on board with. if you go back to basics of protein first and or even go right back to basics of a couple of days of shakes then mushies and then back to solids to give your body a chance of ridding it self of bad carbs, then put protein first in your diet you may feel alot more restriction than you have been.
and dont let the sucess of others deter you on your journey, ppl have to lose at their own pace and sometimes it helps if we are accountable to someone it helps us stay on track and maybe if the main board of vsg is too much then how about trying this board http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/vsgswith150ormoretogo
i wish you the best luck on your continuing journey.

Hey Rhonda,
I want to commend you for again taking charge of your life. Have you ever visited the non WLS forum? When I first came here I started there and there are quite a few people who after struggling for years have committed to themselves and are loosing weight without WLS. I know you have had surgery but every for us who have surgery it's a daily struggle.
Much success to you.
